  • Mongo picked up a black and decker random orbital palm sander on the side of the road. Look like this one has the velco part of the pad all GONE. The sanding pad no stick to it, and that not good.
NOTE: velcro is a BRAND, the fastener type is called hook and loop. (like Kleenex is brand of tissue paper)
The orbital sander - black and decker PN: BDER0600
Mongo buy a Gator brand, 5" hook and loop replacement and conversion kit, from Lowes. Made in USA so... Nice!
    Contents:
2 - hook and loop pads
    2 - tubes of E6000
1 - adhesive backed square of 100 grit sand paper
    PPE:
    Nitrile gloves and safety glasses
    HOW TO:
    1. Start by pealing the back of the sandpaper adhesive cover off and stick the sandpaper to a table top.
    2. use the orbital sanders power and sand its worn out pad smooth, using the sandpaper that is stuck to the table. (Mongo find it hard to smooth out the center area, so Mongo held the sand paper in hand for this. WARNING - doing so will make your hand/fingers HOT and may cause severe burns. Use caution be careful. Mongo is a trained Mongo.
    3. Once smooth clean the pad with some brake clean or other cleaner to remove any debris.
    4. Apply 1 tube of the E6000 on the now smooth sanding pad. Be sure to apply an even coat on the entire surface of the sanding pad face.
    5. Align the holes of the new hook pad. Make sure the hook side of the pad is not glued. The gray color side is the side intended to be glued.
    6. Set the orbital sander on the table, sanding pad down so the weight of the sander is pressing on the pad. Let set for 24hours.
    7. After 24hrs make sure the new pad is secured and use a pair of scissors to trim an excess material from the pad. - It is important to trim any excess material because if the excess gets caught on something while in use it may damage the pad.
    8. Apply a new loop style sanding disc and begin using.
Hopefully this video help you if you have an orbital sander that needs a new pad, or if you want to convert your orbital palm sander to the hook and loop style.
