Starting a poultry farm | Low Cost Deep Litter System | Successful Poultry farming

  • We use a simple deep litter system of rearing layer chicken for table eggs. Deep litter system is the alternative to cage system for those who care about the welfare of the birds while running a commercial enterprise.
    Commercial hens usually begin laying eggs at 16-20 weeks of age, although production gradually declines soon after from approximately 25 weeks of age.
    Chickens are given special care and are never caged. This combined with a serene environment ensures the chickens are not stressed and hence lay high quality eggs. The Farm offers the delicious fresh eggs to leading hotels, restaurants, schools, hospitals e.t.c who have a discerning clientele, keen on hygiene and taste as well as welfare of birds.
    The eggs can also be found on selected supermarkets for domestic consumption. Farm also offers opportunity for study tour for interested groups.
    While we advocate for deep litter system
    Contact for free information on poultry info@kabaruenergy.com.
    Know Jesus and God bless you.

    Great job and thank you for your open sharing and teaching. I read through all 100+ comments and questions and learned so much from your responses.
    I’m most impressed that you answer and attend to all questions. Two thumbs up 👍 👍 for your openness. I’m from Senegal and plan to start a poultry plus other life stock farming if God willing. I’m learning and taking notes a lot from other farmers in TH-cam. I hope you don’t mind that I took your email address from your many responses in the comments.
    I’m looking forward for your future videos. Again thank you 🙏 so very much.

    i.e good but there is some suggestions:-
    i.numbers of drinkers is like is small especially in tropical areas
    ii.application sawdust(wood sheving) during raining could causes easily decomposition of litter which result in production and multiplication Margot
    iii.placing of drinkers on top of small holes like boxes, if waste water stay long can causes bad oudor which may result in diseases

    • @kab5053
      @kab5053  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Have increased the drinkers... will show in subsequent video...and the water trap is drained daily. Litter is monitored and changed regularly.

    • @sulemanisyaku9911
      @sulemanisyaku9911 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But how long have you changing the sawdust.
      Because sawdust it self it has it own problem:-
      1.it easily enters into feeders and drinkers, which can evenly makes feeds and water wastes
      2.sourcing, placing and changing of sawdust is not easy especially in large scale productions
      3.possibility of having clean litter is diminished because the litter is mixed with sawdust which can not be offered to the ruminant animal as a feeds
      4.some of the sawdust trees are irritating, which can cause respiratory problems

    • @kab5053
      @kab5053  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Strict bio security measures. Those who attend to them are well trained on cleanliness. The farm is also located in a secluded place where there are no other similar farms around it. Vehicles accessing the farm are disinfected and visitation is restricted to invitations only. But the birds are not that sensitive to diseases particularly when you follow the vaccination programme. As a result, we never use antibiotics on the farm. Also de-worming is done regularly with organic substances such as diatomic ash and never on piperizine.

    How do u clean to avoid infections?

    • @kab5053
      @kab5053  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We change the saw dust every now and then. But the chicken is naturally adapted and doesn't get infection that easily particularly if you ensure the litter on the floor is dry. Also you need strict bio security measures around the farm.

      99% will lay in the cages. The rest you will collect from the ground and clean them.
