Moreover, what Muhammad ripped of was fake texts that Christians and Jews never believed in. These mythological figures go back to around 10000 years: Sumerians, Babylonians, etc. You can see them in the British Museum. There are lots of ancient artefacts from Iraq in there. So such 'creatures' were probably a part of the mythology of pre-Islamic 'pagan' Arabia, and may have even been figurines ('idols') in Arab polytheism during the time of Mohammad. This may help to explain where this story came from.

If his flying horse was the same size and weight as a regular horse, a minimum wing size of roughly eight meters squared would be needed for flight - and if the wings were the same width as Pegasus's body length (roughly 1.5m) this would give a tip to tip wing-span longer than a double decker bus.

This is a story cooked by Muhammad to save himself. The Islamic book - The life of Muhammad by Ibn Hisham (called the SIRA) gives the details. One night Muhammad was sleeping between Hamza and Jaffar at his house. Then he went missing. People searched for him everywhere but he was not found. Next day Muhammad was caught red handed coming out of the house of his former love Umme Hani - Muhammad had spent the night with Umme Hani in her house. (Umme Hani was the daughter of Muhamamd’s Uncle Abu Talib. Both Muhammad and Umme Hani grew up together and Muhammad was madly in love with Umme Hani. However for some reason Abu Talib did not allow Umme Hani to get married to Muhammad and married her off to another person). When people questioned Muhammad about his presence there, Muhammad came up with the story of the Miraj to save himself (Muhammad told that the Angel Jibreel took him from his house and then returned him to the house of Umme Honey and that he had not spent he night in Umme Hani's house). Hearing this story many Muslims stopped trusting Muhammad and left Islam.
