There were quite a few more little references... * The Private sign at the start shouts out to Private View * Steve keeping his shoes under the table, possibly a reference to Diddle Diddle Dumpling when David was staring lovingly at the shoe under the table. * Steve in the end credits is eating an onion like an apple, which Kathy references someone doing in Devil of Christmas * Reece says he was worried Steve had a brain aneurysm, which is what happened to Frankie J Parsons in Last Gasp * Reece also says "What am I, a science experiment?" (3 By 3) * Amanda Abbington (or is that Katherine Parkinson?) munching on a carrot is a reference to the carrot passed around by the pupils in Mr King. * Nick Mohammed mentions both sorting out his podcast in the edit, which is a reference to a line in Séance Time, and the company Wills Unlimited which is also advertised on the radio at the start of Dead Line. * The line on the Wise Owl poster "Disinfect, purge, sterilise" sounds like something from the posters in Boo To A Goose Think that's everything.
Wow, these are all great. Thanks for sharing them. I can't believe I missed all this stuff. I did pause the carrot to see if it had any strange anatomy but now I think about it that would be too direct a reference and why else would she be eating a carrot? As for the sign from Boo To A Goose, I spent ages pausing and scolling backwards and forwards trying to read the carriage posters for my video about that episode. I managed to read a few but I have a feeling there were more that the camera didn't pick up - so it wouldn't stun me if the Wise Owl poster is referencing a poster that didn't make the final edit of Boo To A Goose or one that was virtually impossible to read.
I'd love to see an Inside Number 9 movie in the style of those old Amicus horror films from the 60s & 70s like Asylum and Dr terrors house of horrors. I know Steve is a big fan of those movies.
That was absolutely brilliant. I don’t know why this moves me to tears.. anything inside no 9 really.. a decade with them is a feat. I hope they make Halloween and Christmas specials.. 🙏🏻
I rewatched them in the build up to this new series starting. Some things don't age well when you go back to them, particularly comedies, but if anything I think I enjoyed Inside Number 9 more when I rewatched them. I think it's because I noticed more of the little details when I knew what was going to happen with the main story.
I think the last weekend is referenced with the argument between Steve and Reece - in last weekend Joe has been leading Chazz along for 9 years and doesn’t really love him - this is mirrored when Steve shocks Reece saying he doesn’t think they’re friends in plodding on.
Wow well done noticing all the references, I didn’t see half of these when I watched it…! Also well done to Steve and Reece for managing to do it in the first place
I was thinking during making the video how complex it must have been to have planned all these little references when they wrote the script. It must have taken them weeks to thread in all these throwaway lines that callback to moments from episodes that are nearly ten years old.
Interestingly enough, on the Taskmaster podcast with Ed Gamble, recorded sometime in early 2021, Katherine Parkinson talks about how she gets mistaken for Amanda Abbington.
Wow, that is interesting. That might be where the idea for this came from maybe. I did wonder if the joke where they swapped their names at the end might have been lost because so many people see them as interchangeable.
Reece and Steve said in interviews that people would tell them their ideas for episodes of Inside Number 9, but it would never be a storyline, just an idea for a location, like a number 9 bus. I think that’s where the bus in the episode comes from.
Loved all seasons of this show, but this was a pretty boring unsatisfying finale. Enjoyed the joke about the bus episode. Grateful overall for the terrific content over the years though.
Thanks for the feedback Gordon. There's no way for me to change the voiceover once the video is uploaded but I'll take your point on board and try to slow down my delivery in future videos. There is an option to reduce the playback speed in your TH-cam player if you want to give the video a go at a slower speed.

@@squareeyestv I did that for the posters as well. Good times.
@@lewiscuthbert2790 @squareeyestv - also the theme tune to Hold On Tight is an instrumental rendition of Tears Of Laughter

It was a brilliant finale - am now watching every episode from start to finish.

Brilliant list of references, thanks for this!
Thank you!
great work! you found way more than i did, RIP inside no. 9

nice. I was looking for that kind of video. thanks.
Great work! Thank you.
Cheers!
There's at least two threads on twitter that have located (or tried to locate) all the credited cameos at the wrap party.
Thanks for that. I'll have a look.
They have to make a Christmas special every year from now on 😄
That's a great idea.
I was satisfied by how the show book ends

Any chance you could re-do the commentary? Far too fast. Can’t make out a word

I wouldn’t take this feedback to heart- I can understand you perfectly.

You can slow it down in the settings
I understood every word
It was shite, self indulgent shite.
The point sails somewhere above you.
They earned making an episode that was all fan-service and self indulgence
