“If you ain’t losses rubles your making rubles” came to my mind when you said this games easy to make money. Great vid man. Even though I’ve been playing solo for a while now, it helps to know what to look out for and how to learn from your mistakes
Honestly that's a perfect way to look at it. I appreciate it! Really happy that it helped. Know playing solo can be intimidating at times. I still get anxious a lot loading into raids. Anything that I missed that helped you?
Not really you covered about everything. And like you said, the best way to play this game is by trial and error, you die, you extract, but each time you gain a little bit of knowledge that you remember the next time. I hope you have a great rest of your day and can’t wait for the next vid.
Absolutely! I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and talk with me! Glad I'm on the right track. It's really encouraging to know other players are getting some value and enjoying the videos. Hope your week is off to a great start!
As someone who's played solo since buying the game in 2017-2018, I can tell you that solo anxiety is absolutely real and these tips you gave are very VERY good so thank you so much for this. I admit, sometimes, before pressing the ready button, I sometimes have to hype myself up lmao usually its the first raid of the day and after, im fine but yeah. And yes, accepting that you'll die is big too. Great video, you're helping people :)
Hello!! Thank you so much. This made my day. It's really encouraging that, coming from an experienced player like yourself, these were helpful. I still have to hype myself some days. Especially after a couple days of frustrating raids. Always tried my best to break down some of the more complicated, soft skills that make up Tarkov into simple, actionable solutions. Glad this hit the mark. Hope your wipe and raids are going well!
Also a solo exclusive player. Best highlight of soloing is being literally 20 ft from 2 3 man groups firefighting. Lets just say me being absolutely still and unseeable help alot in ratting 2 surviving chads and exfilling with a shit ton of chad gear
Thank you for this guide. No guide I've seen is as detailed, short and informative as this one, especially when it comes to solo anxiety and gear fear. Cheers
Hello! Sorry for the delay. Weekend was a bit hectic. Thank you very much!! I really appreciate it. Those were so tough to get over when I first started playing. Hope this helps push through that a bit. How's your wipe going?
@@SoopChefTV Hey! Despite joining in the early midwipe it's really fun. Despite mostly being scared to death when soloing I still manage to get things done, which is beyond encouraging. It really does pay off to try and read your opponents instead of letting the anxiety build up, as most of the time I just stumble upon overconfident PMC's full of juicy end-game loot that tend to push me and fall victim to my positioning. Can't wait for the next wipe where I will not be so late, haha.
If anyone is struggling with solo anxiety, one thing that has helped me is going into back to back scav raids with the goal of killing 1 PMC until it happens. Either you will be successful or you will get so used to losing gear, it will be nothing. A full stash is cool and all; however, it's just millions of rubels just sitting there. Xp is worth 10x more than the money
100% agree. That's really interesting. Hadn't thought of using scav raids as a PvP practice type thing, but that's a great idea. That way, yes you lose gear, but you didn't really "lose" anything. It still hurts because it's money you're missing out on, but not as bad. I always try and say similar stuff about gear sitting in your stash. It goes away anyway and it's not doing anything sitting in your stash. Might as well run it.
Id have choosen reserve over woods honestly. Thats how i learned about rat spots, how to locate pvping, learning the lil travel spots like bunker hermetic takes you perfectly to k building and knight if you cross under over over. Woods was one of the frustrating maps for me cause its customs meets shoreline, theres "spots" like scav house and zb014 and 016 that give a custom firefight vibe but at the same time offers openness of shoreline. My contention is i played when scavs where a bit more "better" and was able to snipe you from behind a tree through 3 bushes. Woods is great tho dont get me wrong fun cool map. But i highly recommend just scaving these maps instead of pmcing at first
Appreciate you taking the time to comment!! Love seeing how everyone thinks about the game. Extremely well thought out. I agree with you, but actually in reverse. Mainly because of my own experience. I LOVE Reserve. I basically only Scaved Reserve for first two wipes. Main reason I'd recommend that is because the hot spots on Reserve are mostly the same regardless of scav or PMC. Plus, you can normally stumble upon the aftermath of a fight and see where to PvP/avoid if you want. The flow of Woods is soooo different as a PMC. Learning those rotations was super valuable to me to stop getting popped from someone I never saw. Plus, on Woods you don't normally spawn in with an optic on your scavs so it's hard to learn sightlines. I scav there a lot now though. I just, personally, found myself running around without much of a plan on my Woods PMCs because I hadn't learned the PMC rotations. That being said, PMC'ing on Woods when the scavs are broken definitely changes the equation a lot. Completely agree with you on that. When they're beaming you from scav house all the way over at the lake there's not much you can do.
@@SoopChefTV yeah i relate to this, i just found reserve to be a good learning experience more so for the "condition exfils" like all pmc exfills there are all conditions so it can condition new players to understand that sometimes a exfill will require somethingn and seeing streets is the newest map with ALOT of condition exfills it helped my streets game by learning to prep for those exfils (i almost exculsively exfill by car). And yeah i do agree with woods, its a awesome place to learn routes and "where CAN i go" 10 mins in the raid. Personally for me it gives me what id imagine vietnam vets tier ptsd, the scavs are in the trees lol. Russian speaking trees bro. Either way good vid bro, look forward to more soon
@@phht0568 That's a REALLLY good point. Hadn't thought of how all the exfils are conditional. I'm going to keep that in mind when thinking about stuff for future videos. Such a good note. Probably going to try and break down map knowledge, routes, etc. so this was super helpful. I appreciate the convo.
I’m just really getting into the game, and I’m finding that setting myself those goals of working on crosshair placement, body coverage etc is far more engaging than trying to tell myself to go to a place and find a specific item. Because I find far more satisfaction in watching myself progress as a player than progress through gear. That being said I’m still incredibly new, and at the moment I’ve got no idea where I should be going, and so I just walk slowly from place to place in constant fear, afraid to push anyone. So I’m going to try and get into more fights and practise these mini skills to gain that confidence to play even better
Ah man that's such a good point. I ignored that stuff wayyyy too long when I first started playing. That's huge that you're focusing on it early. I was looking at the ground or just in the wrong direction for a while. Think with the stuff you're doing you'll be surprised how many of the fights you win. Or, you'll learn and win the next one. How's your first wipe so far? Really appreciate you taking the time to watch and have a conversation with me!
@@SoopChefTV well my first wipe has mainly consisted of me running customs in a solo raid countless times to try and learn all the locations and extracts, I think I’ve finally managed to map it all out in my head, but I still need to remind myself of the actual names of some locations. Then I decided to do some factory solo raids with a high number of ai to practise dealing with the sight sway, movement and basically drill down those gun mechanics in fights. I do feel like I’m getting better at those aspects due to this practise, but as I said even if I die in a raid, simply having practised something to try and drill it into my subconscious is enough for me to say it was a good raid. Although at some point soon of course I’ll get back to doing proper raids, since I haven’t even found that second shotgun yet! But that will be once I’m confident with mechanics through playing solo. Because having to learn the sway, recoil systems, healing mechanics, inventory management AS WELL AS learning enemy spawns, loot spawns, scav spawns, common routes is all far too much. I like to take it bit by bit and narrow it down to make it manageable.
@@thebulletkin8393 This is such a great way to think about the game. Honestly, I started doing a lot of this stuff again last night in my raids. My raids have been terrible recently and I think my fundamentals have started slipping a bit. Playing a tad too fast. Appreciate the reminder. You're going to be a beast when you put it all together. Haha I feel that. Starting the game can feel really daunting. For me it was the noises. There's so many. Fries your nerves. Think learning the spawns and where you can expect PMCs from will help turn those around a bit. Another thing I did when I first started was immediately figure out my extracts on a PMC and just go straight there after I spawned. Just to learn where it was and what's on the way. Stay in the 7 minutes or hit one headshot and you can leave. Helps build some confidence too. Like landing a layup in basketball just to see the ball go in the net. How are you enjoying your first wipe?
@@SoopChefTV This is my first full wipe. I'm level twenty-eight because I run my scav way too much. Pushing through this "gear fear" is so crazy hard. Why? WHY?????
It’s underrated honestly. Feel like people can be really scared of it, but I always have a good time raiding there. Still get scared every time I’m headed to Outskirts though.
I thought you were a much bigger creator. Props man this is a great video. I'm trying to learn to solo Tarkov, but time is a factor. During the week I get that voice in my head of "do I wanna bang my head against a brick wall after working 10 hours?" Then on the weekends I have friends who play. I just need to take time and do it.
Hey! I really appreciate that. Means a lot. Hoping to get there one day! Getting close to Partner which is pretty cool. Try to be thoughtful and do the best I can with these videos. Completely understand that feeling. It can be a steep learning curve. It's pretty scary at first as well. There's definitely some days of the head banging, but I think you'll be surprised at how well you do solo if you give it a shot. Biggest part is just not having someone to cover your back when a scav comes out of no where. Or, having another pair of eyes to spot things. Just try and take it one step at a time. Focus on something specific and it'll be another way to enjoy Tarkov when the homies aren't on. Hope your wipe is going well!
Damn man this is great advice for me, I've come to a point(it's my third wipe) that I basically just play for fun with groups, cause I enjoy the banter, but sometimes I go alone and it's hard, this video really helps!
I'm so happy to hear that. Really appreciate you taking the time to comment! Switching back to solo raids after playing with a group is a tough adjustment. It's crazy the difference in nerves when I remember there isn't anyone watching my back. Seriously, thank you for the feedback. It's awesome to know the tips are helpful.
@@SoopChefTV indeed, it's not just the watching your back part, it's also that being even with 1 other person sort of gives you a boost in morale and confidence. I am also usually a very different type of player in groups then alone, when in groups I kinda sit in the middle of Chad and Rat, but when I am alone I fall back on the teachings of General Sam and become a huge rat. That's why I love maps like woods so much, I know the movements of players quite well and know how to avoid them by taking unconventional paths and sometimes biding my time. Interchange is another map where big profit can be made by just staying outside, running some stashes and leaving. Reserve and Customs are maps I like, but they both have the problem of having chokepoints and needing either luck or timing to avoid players. Lighthouse and snore line are maps I avoid cause they cause me mental harm haha. The biggest problem I have is just being too much of a rat, which mostly has to do with me not being confident in my abilities, whenever I am I can clap cheeks hard, but often I make mistakes by being too scared to push someone. I have a suggestion for a video if you'd take suggestions, a video on movement and positioning would be really helpful, wouldn't need to do the entire map, but popular and common areas for fights and how to make decisions on how to position yourself and what common clues are to help you make those decisions if you get what I mean 😁
I'm so sorry I just saw this comment. For some reason I haven't been getting notifications on Replies. Shoreline absolutely causes mental harm. I try to avoid it at all costs unless I'm mentally ready to go wild in Resort. Wish it were just a tad smaller. Think it would help the map flow a bit. I absolutely love suggestions and this is a great one. Hmm any particular map or just commons areas around Tarkov and how I try to play them / what decisions I make based on certain clues?
@@SoopChefTV I think especially Customs and Reserve would be useful next to more general examples. There is a lot of amazing movement you can do in Tarkov that I and many others don't know about or when to use, for example the window to roof jump on Dorms three story that can be used to flank the guys at the end of the hall.
@@SoopChefTV Always with pleasure. I am currently trying to get rid of the solo anxiety which is not so easy but it is getting better. How is it going with you?
Hey! Sorry it took me a bit to respond. I really appreciate it. I do my best to give solid and honest advice anyone can use right away. It's really encouraging to know that I'm on the right track with my videos. Always scary when you aren't sure if it's going to help. Thank you for the sub!!! Let me know if you have any feedback, or a question for a guide.
I've just been doing offline raid after offline raid. 99% of the time is spent running around looting not actually being in fights. Go offline factory put it to horde and the difficulty to impossible. Labs is good for fighting raiders if you have a keycard. Strange that you need a keycard even for a offline raid probably just how the game is programmed. Shocking being in constant engagements will make you better 10x faster.
Appreciate you taking the time to comment! Offline raids are soooo good for learning. I did the same thing on Factory to learn how to fight, but also how to heal. For some reason all the types of healing took me a while to nail down when I first started. Just when to use what. Never understood why you need a card to go to Labs offline. Such a fun map.
It's the worst. My friends and I have all just basically agreed to "if you're confused just go for it." I'd rather them tag me than us get rolled up on. It's helped a lot, but ya know there's still some mistakes.
I feel that. Described my last two weeks until I had some successful raids finally. Weirdly, Killa kept getting in the way. Hope they turn around soon! Any better luck today?
For me solo is easier except for factory quests. But I like solo because I don't have to hesitate to shoot. Groups always have to worry about friendly fire
Solo Factory quests are always scary. Took me a few tries to get the office specific tasks done this wipe. Not having to worry about friendly fire is definitely a plus. Those split second decisions matter so much in Tarkov.
I don’t really get solo anxiety anymore or gear fear but what I do get is head eyes from a gun fight I definitely should have won but gave my enemy the advantage
@@SoopChefTV sometimes I get overconfident and try to ego instead of taking the east kill and outsmarting my opponent, need to slow down and remember this is tarkov not cod and one bullet can change a gunfight
100 hours into this game. My solo goal is to not die right away. Getting one shot 2 minutes into a raid after spending 10-15 minutes getting ready and loading the game really sucks. Not just as a fail to play the game but a total waste of time for someone with tons of game knowledge to click on your pixels.
Welcome to Tarkov!! Completely understand the feeling of wasted time. Unfortunately, sometimes early in this game that's just how it can be at times depending on the map. Map knowledge is so big to avoid a lot of that. Experienced players can rush spawns or you could rotate right into them unknowingly. How's the wipe going for you?
@@SoopChefTV I started playing two weeks ago (I have a lot of free time in March). I've mostly been dying, running scavs for loot and map knowledge, and a few squads with friends. I'm just now starting to survive raids but I'm mostly hiding for the first 10 minutes.
Hahaha concentrating too hard. My brain forgets to blink. Trying not to forget anything. Hard enough to try and make sure I'm not scrunching my forehead up.
Solo fucking sucks, this time in the wipe has a shit ton of 5 mans, and yes before anyone says this, I did just die to a 5 man, I killed three with a mosin 😢
I agree with you actually. Definitely the toughest part of the wipe to play solo. Been mostly running into geared squads myself. You got 3 with a mosin though! Mosin Man remains the true Tarkov meta.
I agree to a point. Sometimes it's not as productive if you're just running around the map without a goal though. Find myself not getting out of raids if I just go wherever I feel like without thinking about it a bit. Definitely should gets as many reps as possible mixed with some intentionality.
@@SoopChefTV i get what you mean but at least in my expeience that hasnt really helped me get over solo anxiety. what you said probably works more for other people more than it does for me. btw good video keep it up
I'm so sorry I haven't been getting notifications on Replies. Completely get it. Have to go with what works for you and your playstyle. I've been getting a little bit of anxiety recently and I think it's because I haven't been playing as many raids. Gotta get back out there and get in some fights. Appreciate the compliment. Going to keep working at it! Hopefully have another one up soon.
The big problem is that they need to separate solo from duo, trio or squad because it makes no sense solo is solo many players I will say mostly play solo how can you play against 3 or 4 players your chances to win the fight are at minimum not to mention low tier players etc. When you team up automatically you need to play against other teams not against solo players that's stupid
Hmm I get what you're saying. I don't mind playing against teams too much. 4 or 5 stacks is where it does get a little wonky. I'll agree with you there. Guess the trade off would be if it were only solos there would be A LOT of 3-rd partying any fight you get in. That's what happens in other BRs. Halfway through a fight all of a sudden the rest of the lobby is there.
@@SoopChefTV TARKOV is not BR game and it's not 50 or 100 players in the game like typical BR game means not so much 3rd party players half of them even avoid pvp that's why they need to separate it from duo, trio, etc anyway. regarding 3 party is the same even now or not so far as someone heard shooting 3rd party will be there but not always ...this is my humble opinion and I am thinking that I am not wrong
@@Gapi3463 completely understand. Misspoken on my part. Since Tarkov doesn't break it out into the different squad sizes I was just thinking to my experience in other games. Solos themselves are normally pretty ratty and can have a lot of 3rd partying. Honestly would be pretty interested to see how a solo only raid would play. I agree with you though. It can be hard to find players even as a solo on maps at times. Appreciate the conversation. I love talking about this stuff.

Started watching and your production and commentary is top notch… subbed…
I really appreciate. Means a lot to hear the work is showing in the videos. Thank you so much for the sub! Welcome to the community!
Really nice video!
Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to comment. How's your wipe going?
@@SoopChefTV Always with pleasure. I am currently trying to get rid of the solo anxiety which is not so easy but it is getting better. How is it going with you?
bro i like ure vids, u're honest, not like other streamers and youtubers, congrats u got ure self a sub
I hate the confusion during combat when you play with teammates . Waiting to identify friends or enemies got me killed way too much.
It's the worst. My friends and I have all just basically agreed to "if you're confused just go for it." I'd rather them tag me than us get rolled up on. It's helped a lot, but ya know there's still some mistakes.
I just streamed for 2.5 hours and didnt survive 1 raid today lmao
I feel that. Described my last two weeks until I had some successful raids finally. Weirdly, Killa kept getting in the way. Hope they turn around soon! Any better luck today?
For me solo is easier except for factory quests. But I like solo because I don't have to hesitate to shoot. Groups always have to worry about friendly fire
Solo Factory quests are always scary. Took me a few tries to get the office specific tasks done this wipe. Not having to worry about friendly fire is definitely a plus. Those split second decisions matter so much in Tarkov.
great video!
Hey! I really appreciate you watching. Hope that it helped!
I don’t really get solo anxiety anymore or gear fear but what I do get is head eyes from a gun fight I definitely should have won but gave my enemy the advantage
Haha I feel that. That's been my last couple weeks. Anything you do that helps you figure out what you're doing wrong?
@@SoopChefTV sometimes I get overconfident and try to ego instead of taking the east kill and outsmarting my opponent, need to slow down and remember this is tarkov not cod and one bullet can change a gunfight
Is there anything specific that helped you get more comfortable playing Tarkov solo? Something I missed?
I'm just now starting to survive raids but I'm mostly hiding for the first 10 minutes.
the tip that he shows you but doesn't say: don't blink.
Can't give away all my secrets. Guaranteed to improve your raids. Haven't blinked for 2 wipes now.
Bro is staring into my fucking soul
Is it because my eyes don't emote? It is isn't it?...
My wife doesn't even let me watch Soop's videos for this reason.
@@SoopChefTV You got the same dead eyes I do when I talk about things. LOL
Mosin Man remains the true Tarkov meta.
if you want to get over solo anxiety just play more its that simple
My brother in christ, do you not blink? ever?
Yo! Appreciate the comment. I have a terrible habit of blinking at the end of my sentences where my edits normally are. Had no idea until I started making videos and people pointed it out.
Turns out making TH-cam videos is terrifying and takes practice. Been slowly getting better at it and I’m much less of a terrified statue now a days. Honestly, this was one of my first videos. Didn’t expect it to get so many views, but glad I found out early.
gotta avoid fights
I wouldn't say you have to avoid them altogether. Definitely have to be more thoughtful with how and when you take them for sure.
