This is the second half of a video I made for my sister on how to pick up the heel flap stitches to create a nice edge that is solid and attractive, and to illustrate the gusset decreases.
thanks for sharing. Your techniques majorly helped me with making a nice heel turn. My sis was very impresses with her xmas gifts of Fishermans wool knitted socks.
LOVE this video! This will make a world of difference to my sock knitting. I've never seen this technique and you make it so simple! Please do more tutorials along the way,,, you have fans!
Thank you so much! I was taught the pick-up in my Stitch 'n' Bitch group in Utrecht, the Netherlands, by a lady named Carla Meijssen. She's published a few Dutch knitting books (that I have translated into English). The gap-closing technique is the result of my own experimentation :-)
Sure, on this one I purled the last stitch of every row, and slipped every first stitch knitwise. You do need to allow a little more yarn when slipping the right-side stitches and pull a bit tighter on the wrong side, otherwise one edge will be tighter than the other.

Fantastic tutorial! This is the only technique I’ve found that works. Did you come up with this method on your own? Thank-you so much for posting. ♥️

Your videos just had an unintended bonus for me - the way you knit continental finally made the whole concept make sense in my head. Thanks!
