- Susanne Craig has spent the past 6 years doggedly investigating Donald Trump’s financial matters, and she’s received a Pulitzer for her work. Following New York Attorney General Letitia James’ civil suit against Trump and his three eldest children alleging that they engaged in business fraud by inflating assets and misrepresenting their worth to financial institutions, she doesn’t mince her words: “He deceived them, he lied to them, and he certified it year after year for personal gain.” This isn’t the only legal trouble for the Trump family, but it could be devastating if they lose the lawsuit and are made to pay hundreds of millions of dollars. “You can see it’s very hard in that information to find any one of his businesses that makes money,” Craig tells Ali Velshi. “This isn’t somebody who’s walking around with a huge amount of cash just to be able to settle a case.”

@@markusmo1 Exactly right, and in these big loans the Appraiser does the valuation, the lawyers do the due diligence. Trump can claim whatever, but what he submitted officially will be done by independent parties. AND his valuations were done by the largest firm in the US, so it's quite difficult to say he defrauded the banks. The AG didn't start a prosecution against him - most of the people screaming for him to go to jail failed to notice that it was a civil case taken up on behalf of alleged victims (the IRS and the Banks) but the alleged victims have NOT made any complaints, so this is all BS.

If I go to a bank or insurance Co or the tax office they send a very qualified appraiser out to check ,but apparently they just take the word of a multi-time bankrupt person w/o checking out facts.
The special prosecutor assigned to investigate the Steele Dossier, after spending over $40 millions, could not figure out that the dossier was fake? Interesting.... May be the special prosecutor came up with desired results first, and then tried to prove those pre-determined results.

This is a pattern of DJT. He could inflate and deflate the value of his properties depending on his mood and motive. People can inflate and deflate their property value while bragging but not when you're asking for a loan or paying taxes. My question is doesn't the county or state establish their own property value not the owner.

The guy could not endure to be out of the spotlight for half a second and could not stop lying in order to keep in it. He damaged so many American institutions, damaged relationships with American allies to the point that the whole world is wary of this country ever being trustworthy again even though they are relieved to have a "normal" government right now under Biden. He did nothing to try to accomplish any of the "promises" he made such as lowering prescription drug prices, other than ensuring his own taxes got lowered, and making some half-assed attempts at putting up bits of "wall" on the border which was a stupid and destructive idea in the first place. He wrecked international trade and nuclear control agreements, basing all his actions on his personal prejudices, petty revenge to undo good actions by Obama (who he is insanely jealous of), and short-sighted advice from the idiots he surrounded himself with. He put unqualified and antagonistic people in charge of agencies specifically to destroy them, like the post office and the department of education. He spewed fake news constantly while calling any truthful documentation of his misbehavior "fake news." He mishandled Covid to the point that the United States had one of the worst per capita death rates on the planet, and there is still chaos in the public health field thanks to his lies and distortion. He and his family did grift plenty of money on the side though! When I ask to borrow money from a bank with a mortgage against my house, they first thing the bank does, after checking my credit, is send an appraiser to value my home, the security for the loan. They don't take my word for it. 💸I don't get to say "my house is worth $1mil" when it's not.
There's a big difference between us and them. We hear "prove it," and they hear "okay." It's the difference between working with hundreds of thousands (us) and billions (them).
