Sorry that you got so sick but thank you for sharing your experience as I wouldn’t know what happens. It scares me getting so sick with the family with a single bathroom.
Thank you. Yeah it wasn’t much fun, not going to lie but thankfully the others weren’t as sick as me and they were mostly sleeping while I was sickest so there wasn’t a fight for the bathroom. I shared this because although it sucks it’s important to know there are protocols and procedures to support your recovery and prevent the spread. 🫶
That's no bloody good but glad that you are on the mend. A salutary reminder for all of us to really go overboard with hygiene and even then keep your fingers crossed that we don't get sick while cruising.
Oh Ami I’m so so sorry . That is upsetting. I hope you are better now. These things do happen unfortunately and especially when you’re on holiday no one wants to get sick. Chin up and I’m sure your next cruise will be awesome and you can look back on this one and say it was an experience. Take care of yourself .😊
Thanks Joanne, yes i’m all good thank you. You are right, these things happen and we knew this is rare. We have had many great cruises, we were just unlucky this cruise. Plenty more great cruise adventures to come.
Sorry to hear you got sick. Thank you for sharing your experience of Carnivals protocol....very informative....I definitely purchase travel insurance...wouldn't travel without it. Wishing all the best of the New Year,
Cruise lines get an unfair bad rap when it comes to norovirus. My husband and I both work at nursing homes here in the States and it has been very rampant these last couple of months. Highly contagious and moves room by room, nursing unit by nursing unit. It got to the point where I wore a mask just to remind myself not to touch my face lol (yes, I know it's not airborne). We are going on the Carnival Vista at the end of January and I'm going to take what precautions I can. I usually have one day of what I call "cruise tummy" which I attribute to too much drinking/eating lol. Glad to know Carnival has good protocols in place.
Thanks for watching. Exactly my point. It’s everywhere and spreads fast! With kids, it’s been an annual thing last few years but it is never fun. “Cruise Tummy” sounds like a great idea.💡
Our first family crusie we did a 11 nighter to NZ on day 8hubby got it then next day 3 yr old and I got it then next day son 2 got itlucky it was only 24hrs . We just took gasto stop and that helped. We have done 20 crusie and only crusie we have got it was not fun in an inside room with 3 yr old as he only vomited once but had to be in the room for 24hrs and he felt well really quick but I was really sick!
Why do us mums always cop it worse!!!? I still don’t understand why it was so mild for the others when I was so sick. Gastro stop is amazing. I forgot to mention that the medical staff gave me some of that as well but we always take that on our cruises anyway just in case. Definitely puts a damper on your cruise though.
Awww... I felt your disappointment, I had a cry with you as you are such a participant in every cruise you go on! Thanks for always explaining everything in such detail, you give info that others don't. Just went on Splendor for first time, and your video was the only one of many that said you can put cash on your cruise card in the Black Pearl on boarding. So helpful, as is knowing what the procedures are if quarantined on board. Great videos! 👏👏
Thank you so much for watching and sorry for making you cry. 🙈 I’m glad you have got some good information from my videos and I hope you had the most magical cruise ever! 🫶
Thanks for watching all the way to the end. I even cried editing. Lol. I’m such a sook. Yeah, I figured there was some good information to pass out to the public so worth crying on TH-cam over it.
Your information was good and I also agree with what you said about some people do bring some diseases on board as they don't want to loose there money
@ we literally cancelled an entire cruise last year because the kids got gastro the night before. We were supposed to cruise without the kids and people told us to still go but we knew caring for the kids there was a high chance we would get it too….. and we did.
I got ill September with norovirus on top of that sepsis missed five days of the cruise was in medical for a day then cairns hospital 4 days I had 2 iv’s and a catheter taking a break from cruising until spring
Man that sucks! We’ve just come back from a carnival cruise & there were so many people who simply did not use the hand wash stations going into the buffet. I’m hoping they carried personal sanitizer & used that instead but I suspect there are a lot of gross people out there!
On RCCL Ovation of the Seas they made you wash your hands on the way to the buffet.. They wash stations set up and a crew member to point you to the wash station. Having said that, we did see a couple of peeps cough at the buffet into their hand and continue to use the tensile without using hand sanitizer.
@ I do like that Royal have that system. isn’t it sad that we live in a world where adults need to be told to wash their hands and I have seen all sorts of gross stuff in the buffet too.
You poor girl I feel sad you couldn't experience the activities with your family on this particular cruise. I hope you can get to experience them on another cruise in the future
Thank you Wendy, I’m a big sentimental sook. Lol. Took so long to convince my brother and I was so excited to have them there but we still had some great moments and I am very appreciative of that.
Thanks lovely. That’s why I looked like death when you saw me that last night. Lol. That’s why I felt it was important to put this video together. I was pleasantly surprised to learn about the protocols so I thought it would be great to share.
With 287 days to go to my first cruise. This is I fear the most. Not being sick but other passengers on board with these bugs. What prep do you suggest. (?) I’ve seen a clog from another that she wipes down every surface when she get to her cabin. I don’t want to be paranoid and not enjoy the cruise… Feel for you and booking so far in advance I’m praying 🙏 my cruise is ok. Great video for all to watch, o we keep everyone safe
Thanks for watching and glad to hear you got something out of it. I really think travelling with kids increased the chances for us. You can wipe everything but that doesn’t always kill gastro. Make sure you wash your hands with soap regularly and avoid touching your face etc. This was rare but these things can and do happen. I wouldn’t stress about it, enjoy your holiday but make sure you take the necessary precautions where possible. I’m sure you will have a great time.
Funnily enough, the previous year we had to cancel a cruise because our kids got gastro. The cruise line refunded 25% and the rest was refunded through travel insurance.
Thanks for watching. Fortunately we have not yet got Covid or the flu yet. They are great tips although my knees are shot so although I take the stairs, I need the handrails. It’s always harder to stay healthy with kids.
I had a really bad Gastro - Norovirus on the Carnival Splendor in October. Thankfully it started on the last evening of the cruise but I was so sick i ended up on a drip in the ships hospital. Unfortunately i had already packed my luggage and put it outside of the room, so i only had one pair of undies for the next day so i had to make a nappy type setup with a towel. I was in the hospital for about 4 hours and I thought “This is going to cost over a $1000 probably.” When i got the bill the next morning it was $726. I was pleasantly surprised and thankful i had taken out travel health insurance. I was taken off the ship in a wheelchair and i was the last person off the ship. I could no fault the care of any of the crew. The man wheeling me off the ship was so kind and helpful. When I emailed Carnival for the Hospital documents and bill, they were very prompt and i had it all sorted out within 2 days. Based on my illness experience alone, I give the crew and administration staff of Carnival a big tick! Thankfully I felt better after 2 days.
This is great to know! You could have been on the same time as me. I heard the outbreak carried onto the next cruise too. I wish I hadn’t have been so stubborn and turned down the drip, it would have helped my recovery so much better and I would have claimed it all back on insurance. I agree, the staff on the ship (especially medical) were great. I really couldn’t fault them. I hope you had a speedy recovery.
I had it coming out both ends. I have NEVER been that bad/sick before. I was like it for about 4 hours before I could even get to the phone to call the Medical centre. As soon as i received the medications my symptoms stopped instantly. But I was so dehydrated and weak that they kept me there and on a drip for another 4 hours. I was home the following afternoon and I was back to normal within a few days thankfully.
Thank you so much. Thankfully we have had 2 short 3 day cruises without incident since that have helped make up for it but hoping for another big family cruise soon.
Thank you. 🥰 These things happen Like I said, we are fortunate to cruise as much as we do, it was just disappointing because this was such a special family cruise for us. 🫶
@@CruiseCrazedFam Totally understandable to feel down and sad and never be sorry for crying, it's just natural. Sometimes life can throw a spanner in the works and stuff things up, but it's never as bad as you think it is.
Hardest part of the trip for my mind, hated seeing you like this, affects me so much seeing you sad and emotional and not being able to help… We will get another chance and I know They are itching for a redo… Next time babe 💋

i really with that cruise lines would allow cancelation/refund for sickness (if you provide adequate medical documentation)
Funnily enough, the previous year we had to cancel a cruise because our kids got gastro. The cruise line refunded 25% and the rest was refunded through travel insurance.
Congrats on the 1K .. proud of you folks..

After getting flu on our 1st cruise ( we have done 8 cruises) I only use the stairs & don't touch the hand rails, wash hands etc. so far lucky
