I am pleased that I am not the only adult who still enjoys watching Lassie!! I strongly believe that all Lassie entertainment projects were produced in a way that adults can enjoy them, too. And, do as Walt Disney did: that is, to keep the little child within you. That is such a beautiful concept; it truly says much about the state of affairs, in the entertainment industry: and, how much better America would be if only all of us followed that concept. Think about it, America; think about it....
Lassie is the most beautiful Collie and the most beautiful dog of all of them. he's also the most intelligent and the most friendliest dog too as well. and an adventurous hero.
unbelievable story....masterly made into a lifetime movie....great direction with great simplicity and love.....salute to the author and the movie team....
Remember Lassie shows fondly. But if the mother had been watching her child better this might not have happened. But as a child of the 60's we kids weren't watched like the kids today are (well for the most part). We were sent outside to play...all day with instructions to check in periodically. I used to wish I had a Lassie too!
This movie was made during the run of the Lassie series. Lassie aired every Sunday night on CBS from 1954 until 1971. It continued in first run syndication until 1973. 19 years total.
Lassie's Great Adventure was originally a 5 part episode of Timmy And Lassie, The Journey, the only episode filmed and aired in colour. It aired in 1963, then converted into the movie you see now. This is why it was filmed in colour. All other episodes of Timmy And Lassie were filmed in black and white, both before and after The Journey. There were also 2 pilot episodes of Jeff's Collie, that were filmed in colour. The Inheritance and The Well. Colour film has a tendency to fade over time if not maintained properly, and colour cameras were expensive. When the 2 pilot episodes aired, they were shown in black and white, because the colour in the film faded.
and if there's trouble like when there's a break in, when somebody's hurt, or if somebody's in trouble or in danger. and that's how what makes Lassie a hero.
I have two rough collies and they are so intelligent and easy to train . Went up to Dartmoor today met loads of Royal Marines who made a real fuss of the dogs saying how nice it was to se a real mans dogs .
they don't make shows like this any more 60's70's50's great I cry when Lassie whines it so humbling this day and time they need to stop that movie cujo very disturbing I love Halloween but that movie gives me the creeps how do they do that I get in comfortable when u do animals and children Lassie I still pull-up your shows never get tired

yes, LASSIE was still on Sunday nights in classic black and white back in 1963. It was still CBS' top rated family show.

The only thing I didn't like about Lassie was that constant whining.
Did anyone else think the boar killing was kinda intense :o
Yeah, but Timmy did what he had to do to survive.
Yaaa
I,m just glad Timmy didn't run into those Canadian man eating pygmies .
