The CornerShot system was far from a "Brilliant piece of equipment" and was tossed out almost immediately by US military forces after testing with live rounds in a combat simulation environment. The hinge constantly needed replacing and the system would from time to time break the lock on the hinge allowing the firearm to freely swing back and forth causing anything within a 180 degree angle in front of you to possibly to be hit when you pull the trigger, even if you weren't aiming at it. Not to mention having to replace batteries now for your LCD screen could be a death sentence in combat. It wasn't even an original concept since the periscope rifle had been around since 1914 and was a far superior weapon system that actually worked and wasn't just a marketing ploy.
Fun fact: Blood does not glow under a UV light unless exposed to luminal, but seamen does. So either someone went through and sprayed everything with luminal, or everything you see with the UV light is seamen.
Very few things in this world "Glow" under any kind of light. Many substances do however reflect UV light at a moderately high coefficient resulting in visual distinction. Nearly every bodily fluid, blood included, reflects UV light. Luminol acts as a reagent that enhances the reflection and provides a slight tint to indicate what type of bodily fluid is being illuminated. I believe the bodily fluid with the highest reflection of UV light is cerebral-spinal fluid, but I could be wrong. @edit - I am wrong. it's semen. Semen is the brightest bodily fluid in humans under UV light by almost double.
If I remember right, it was designed to see around corners safely and to shoot the enemy without getting shot yourself. There's even a pole that can extend out to allow the pistol to and camera to see a shoot over the top of a wall.

I checked from sean bean's wikipedia, and it doesn't look like he did the voice of the main character, but it sure sounds like him! Also, the corner gun is real. Also The "framing device" is more like the animus from assassin's creed, and none of this is "reality" this is all a memory, but the main character's memory is damaged, so sometimes he remembers things that weren't there, or doesn't remember things that do, that's why the scanner sometimes makes things go away or appear, but not everything. NONE of this is about actually saving the girl, or killing the bad guy, it's ALL about trying to recover your own memories.

When you're complaining about reflection that don't make sense, you do realise they told you it wasn't a perfect memory match-up? Hence why you can scan some things into or out of existence.
Your memories are in the wrong order, right? Therefore you can complete a set of objectives as long as all the events actually occurred. Since you're reliving the memory there are discrepancies since you aren't memorizing it perfectly. In those cases you are forgetting things that either were or weren't there, which are used towards your advantage as you did so already, since you're reliving a memory. Therefore you can't just spawn stuff randomly as it would be a discrepancy, and you can only fix discrepancies.
The pipes weren't actually there in the memory, but since the human mind is only so accurate you require the assistance of the "Mystery Guy" and the scanner in order to tell what actually exists versus what you thought was there.
"So I just spent 30 minutes making this character, I've named her Laura because it seems fitting and I'm really proud of how she turned out" >5 minutes into the first mission "OH NO LAURA I'M SO SORRY"
I literally have a sniper whose nickname is "HEATER" from his first mission and onward... Needless to say, I gave him the pistol perks... He's the best sniper in my team.

Watching this on the morning of the 22nd June 2017, this is either first-class date recognition of the game or a really scary coincidence.
