As a research scientist, I have studied the effects of exercise in depth. Exercise happens to be far better for not only anxiety, but for depression--for more effective than medications for such, with no contraindication (side effects).

Four years ago I had my first and only episode of heart failure, thus far. I was in the poorest shape of my life. I have Crohnes disease and due to this have short bowel problems as well.
I was for a couple of years very depressed, and stopped exercising altogether. I wasn't looking after my health and in particular, ignored my blood pressure problems.
Then around 2.30am I awoke in trouble. I knew immediately I was probably dying. Somehow I drove the short distance to the hospital and with amazing help, survived what should have killed me.
After I was mentally and physically in terrible shape. I would tire very easily and as a guide to my mental health, I was calling myself "Dead man walking"
I decided to start walking, and began worriedly walking short distances. Gradually I went longer and longer walks, deciding to let my heart tell me what was too much. I can now walk ten kilometres a day easily, no heart pain of any kind. My angina spray last year expired, without being opened from new! I feel really good all round. My last cardiac set of tests show my heart has got a lot stronger than it was!
People often ask me what they did to make my heart better. I say they couldn't do anything, it was what I did to my heart, not what my heart was doing to me. I'm trying to make it up to the poor old ticker now!

I am currently 81 years old.
    1) I do brisk walking between 6 to 8 km each time. 5km/hour
    2) climb between 40 to 80 floors (sometimes 100 floors)

I had a cardiac ablation about 10 years ago because I kept going into atrial flutter and needed cardioversion to revert the rhythm. It has worked completely. I am still getting PVCs and short runs of something which is scary. I exercise regularly but am overweight. I am also having great difficulty with my stomach and with multiple tests have found nothing other than polyps. I am now trying your magnesium idea and eating smaller meals so hopefully this will help. Thank you.

    *My Irregular Heart Rhythm Experience:*
In the previous few years I found I was experiencing irregular heart rhythm and some very strange beats. It got so bad I felt I was about to die and thought "just get on with it", it was horrible to live with. I had stopped exercising after a badly done hernia repair and a work injury to my lower discs. Anyhow, I ended up seeing a cardiologist and he kindly offered to operate and burn my heart muscle with electrodes! I told him to get lost as this would cause permanent injury to my heart, I'm now so glad I declined his advice.
The first thing that I found provided relief was to take a teaspoon of L-Arginine per day, this was very effective but some symptoms remained. Next I supplemented with good Magnesium and also upped my intake of potassium rich foods such as dried apricots and dried tomatoes. I now have no symptoms as long as I keep my magnesium and potassium levels under control. Better than scarring your heart!

      FLUID AND ELECTROLYTE BALANCE
Electrolytes are minerals in your body that have an electric charge. They are in your blood, urine, tissues, and other body fluids. Electrolytes are important because they help:
-- Balance the amount of water in your body
      -- Balance your body's acid/base (pH) level
-- Move nutrients into your cells
-- Move wastes out of your cells
-- Make sure that your nerves, muscles, the heart, and the brain work the way they should.
Sodium, calcium, potassium, chloride, phosphate, and magnesium are all electrolytes. You get them from the foods you eat and the fluids you drink. The levels of electrolytes in your body can become too low or too high.

I think that says it all...our heart will tell us if something isn't quite right and that there may be a problem. I also get my skipped beats after exercise when I sit down to rest. What I'll do is take 5 or 6 deep slow breaths and it goes away. I have no other symptoms so I'm not going to worry. Thank you so much for your continued videos. I know hundreds of us really appreciate it.

I only lift weights and am 66. I got on the elliptical for the first time in a year and did 30 mins. Exercise is great. There are many forms , but I lift weights and can even bench press my weight.

Thank you so much, Dr. Gupta! You are a huge help to me. I live in Houston, Texas, and instead of coming home from work and watching the TV news, getting upset about the upcoming mid-term elections, I sit and enjoy a cup of green tea and watch your videos. I even watch them over and over again. Then after awhile I go for a walk. You are making my life much better! May God bless you mightily! You are appreciated.

Thank you Dr Gupta, I need to see you on good morning tv to increase peoples awareness of your teaching and empathetic approach. You show a very balanced approach, rather than a fire fighting approach which normally involves very little control for the patient (drugs) ! Of course some time essential.A balanced approach cause, effect leading to long term self help! Thank you for putting yourself out, I wish you every success.

Great video. I have a new habit where i sip cayenne powder in orange juice when i work out. it really improves the cardio flow and helps minimize any heart abnormalities. If the premateur ventricular contractions start up, I switch to L-taurine. that definitely gets rid of them. then a magnesium citrate drink at night that puts me to sleep.
