  • Like last time, Steam Incorporated ran both their
School holiday steam & vintage diesel shuttles with JA 1271, DA 1410, & DA 345 (1431)
Across the Wellington metro area between Wellington, Upper Hutt, & Paekakariki.
This time they they ran for the entire weekend of the 20th & 21st of July.
During that time, We I also got a couple of Wairarapa Connection services on film (1614 and 1615), One freight train (248), And a work train (WT25) which ran on the Sunday from Wellington up to Paekakariki and back.
the weather wasn't the best for Saturday's spotting session, But turned out nice for the Sunday, So in this video you get the best of both worlds, And in my opinion, Made for some of my best shots to date. So hope you enjoy.

A great video I remember steam trains as a kid going through Linden station in the early 60s. with the awesome sound of the horn.

Thanks and I agree that the Waterloo and Glenside shots were awesome. I also like the one at Ava station with that low cloud in front of the Wainui hill.

Good work with well thought out locations. Enjoyed the full Dynamic Brake scene, Da's are just as impressive going down hill.

This is all fantastically done. Like a few people’s preferences in this comment section, the shot at Glenside is my favourite. Also, Airlie road is a decent spot if you want to see the Ja gunning it up the bank! My video should be out anytime soon.

Thank you, Glad you enjoyed it. I quite like using Airlie road for Wellington bound trains because of the big curve, But I may get a north bound shot there in future. The other location I did consider for a north bound shot was setting up next to the traction sub station, On the opposite side of the state highway bridge to where I filmed at Pukerua Bay, That would make for a good shot too, So that is on my list for next time.
