I grew up in the 70s , and oh the music , music was my life , Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles , and my heart a flutter over Freddie Mercurys voice of Queen .. I also play several instruments, I have whittled down to focus on piano exclusively….don’t get me wrong , I am still in love with Freddie , but now I have discovered the world of classical music and will listen to Chopin and Debussy On low volume , instead of the classic rock I had so adored and felt like was a part of my being
I decluttered my purse long ago and only use a tiny wallet. No more fumbling around for cards or payment. This eliminates so much unnecessary clutter (and btw I am a mom of seven). Your unique perspective is so refreshing.
I've found my way to store sentimental items. I take pictures of them, so I can keep them in my phone gallery and look at them whenever I want. This is how I managed to declutter physically most of sentimental items.
I haven't heard anyone talk about music and minimalism before. This was really refreshing. I recently returned to work after time off and found that for the long driving commute I needed silence rather than the radio playing to help my brain process stuff both there and back. Something I'm going to think about more, thank you!
Another minimalism creator said "decluttering subscriptions" instead of decluttering music etc. I for example enjoy music, although right now I don't listen to it that often, so actually quitting Spotify premium for a while would be a good idea. Also same applies for streaming services such as Netflix & HBO.
I also decluttered music along time ago .I can’t stand it in the car either so when I go somewhere with hubby in the car he leaves it off for me. I have noticed that every where I go there is music even in the dentist office now too .why can’t people sit for a few minutes with their own thoughts .why do people constantly need to be entertained. There is so much noise in the world now it is like an assault to your ears
Thank you for sharing your experience :) I've been decluttering my sentimental items and It's been hard! But i feel lighter so its totally worth it. Greetings from Chile :D
Hi Lia, thanks for an interesting vlog once again. We began our decluttering journey 8 years ago when we moved house. I am retired and thought I'd done well in that move until I discovered minimalism and realised how much excess we had and how it was impacting our lives. In the 5 years since we have been slowly decluttering daily and have made great progress towards our goal of downsizing to a small apartment and a simpler, slower life. Doing it slowly has allowed us to adjust our mindset around what we need and want, and to learn to tolerate a little discomfort and to become more creative in the way we deal with our genuine needs. Your vlogs help me to question even more what I need and whether I can simplify further, particularly in the area of bags and clothes. Your last point about expectations is my favourite and it is part of what I have done when I work on my minimalist mindset. The journey is like peeling an onion, as you remove one layer you realise that there is another layer of change that you can make when you are ready to take another step.
I'm with Heather, below comment. I, too decluttered my purse a long, long time ago (after reading the Elaine St. James simplicity books) (showing my age :)) & use just a small change purse. It's so much easier. Also, decluttered makeup a few years ago. Loved the video!
I love all of your videos! Thank you so much for the time and energy you put into them. I've been wondering lately about how you consume services (restaurants / hair cuts / etc.)? I would love to know more . . . :)
You are not! And actually, a lot of people commented on my "I don't listen to music" video that they can relate 😊 it's just something that isn't talked about...
I think balancing listening to anything you enjoy in general is better than getting rid of music. I really believe our souls need certain sounds by way of music to thrive properly
hi lia! thank you for this channel, you're truly inspiring, i love the calming and chill vibe on your channel. i hope you have a good day 🌼 i would love to know who are your favourite youtubers, minimalism-related or not?
Thank you so much! It is so hard to say... Recently I haven't watched too many TH-cam videos but I love Michelle Choi and her beautiful, never-boring vlogs. I also love watching "knitting podcasts" but mostly because I love knitting myself and I know there are a lot of wonderful minimalist TH-camrs out there and I know many of them but somehow it is not a topic I watch many videos about 😊 ah, and I also love videos that analyze societal problems, beauty standards and their dark side (for example "annas analysis" or "Tiffany Ferg"). Uff it is way too hard to say exactly what I like watching 😂
I love music and I love silence too. Ying and Yang. I need them both. They are part of my life.

That sounds great! And thank you, I am glad you liked the video! 😊

Make sure to make a backup! I lost a whole roll of wedding anniversary pictures a few years ago and it still hurts :(

Thank you so much for your endless support!! ❤️
Thank you Lia for sharing your interesting vlog. I enjoy and learn a lot from your content!
Appreciate your content!
I thought I was the only one decluttering music 🤩
You are not! And actually, a lot of people commented on my "I don't listen to music" video that they can relate 😊 it's just something that isn't talked about...
I don’t listen to music at all, and people think it’s so weird! 😂
I have Spotify but I don't personally use it. My kids use it. Thought I was weird or a bit off, glad I'm not the only one.
Ive discovered yout yesterday and you are so so inspirational! :)
I think balancing listening to anything you enjoy in general is better than getting rid of music. I really believe our souls need certain sounds by way of music to thrive properly
I have also stopped listening to music, basically since I started decluttering. I just felt like it was noise in my head.
