seriously, toyota is no joke. ive got an aw11 mr2 that was gifted to me from my dad and it started first try after sitting for 10 years! fuel pump got clogged shortly after of course from running on the decade old gas but still, incredible!
Although not an ae86 nor a gt car, I was gifted an xv10 Camry. Sat for 6 years and started up like it ran yesterday. These things are immortal. Threw in some fresh fuel, new oil and its good to go.
I find it awesome that Takumi toom the time to find Shingo's old EG6 Civic and restore it. I like to think that Shingo became a decent human being and became friends with Takumi after the race.

I just bought an AE86 with a bad spark plug and some other issues. It still drives like it’s new. Also left the battery on by accident for a whole day and it started up without a jump. Dunno what Toyota put in those things but holy shit I wish cars today still were made like that.

@@echoi7119 the animator guy obviously couldn't show everything in a short time considering how hard it is to animate stuff. But first Takumi worked on the engine a little like putting new oils, working on the starter motor, camshaft adjustment, relays and fuses, then put some Gas in the tank and then started the engine and since it's a Toyota it had no problem starting at all.
The engine he blew up was a racing engine designed for the AE86, put in by his dad. Story wise he became a professional Rally Car / Race Car Driver after blowing out his engine the second time.
There is a continuation manga called MF Ghost. Takumi is mentioned and is a big named racer in that manga, but he’s not the MC anymore. The MC is a rising star newbie to Rally racing and his car is a modern 86, Called a Toyota GT86. It’s a Collab car by Toyota and Subaru.
So here's my story on we got up to this point of the video: Takumi retires from street racing joins the British National Rally Championship and signed up for Toyota to be a rally driver.After his crashed, he retired and created a racing school where one of his students is Kanata and after he finally earned a lot of money from his racing school. He built a repair shop in Japan near his house in Gunma.He then remembers his beloved ae86 and decided to pick it up since he has built a repair shop and he picked the 86 up and took it to his shop and starts fixing everything up from removing the rust to fixing the engine up to repainting the car in the same panda colors paint job and he appiled the Fujiwara Tofu Shop sticker to the side of the car to remind him that this car that used belong to his dad will always be a legend since it's the car that made him a legend on the street racing scene.
I hope this idea becomes canon in MF Ghost. This would literally be the perfect set up for a teacher vs. student boss race at or near the end of the series to show to us the "passing of the torch" moment from one 86 to the other. Bonus points if it's on Mount Akina. I pray to the car gods that the author, Shuichi Shigeno, is reading these comments and viewing these videos. Would be great if recruited Project 33 to help with MF Ghost.
@@Tobu9105F nah. Electric cars are soulless and boring. You'd ruin the character of the AE86 by EV swapping it. Though you would technically be right that it would be objectively stronger. But remember the charm of Initial D and Mf Ghost alike is overcoming disadvantages with sheer skill and talent.
This is beautiful, I just recently had a best friend pass away and he never got his Chevy truck running before he passed so myself and the rest of the crew went and got his truck out from the garage where it sat for 8 years and cleaned it up and got it running and took him for one last ride in it to his final resting place

I just love this like absolutely love it as the sequel. I remember getting a bit emotional as this may be very true that all cars will go electric in the not so distant future and I can't believe I'm finding out about this now (this video). And only a Toyota can start up that effortlessly while being dumped for at least idk 2 decades? And I forgot who that red civic belonged to in the final shot😅
I've never even seen the show and to think of an iconic machine getting another chance at life gets me a bit emotional as a car guy. I, hopefully will be able to start up my F250 for the first time in lord knows how long, and she'll be back on the road between Christmas and New Year's! The old Toyota reliability is something that even us Ford guys have to respect; the new ones just don't have it like the old ones.

@@Leozinhuu did a 5-2 down change by mistake and the con-rod on cylinder 3 shattered like glass. I was a teenager and couldn't afford to replace the engine. My parents offered to help, but it was the ONE time the supply of 4AGEs had completely dried up. My parents didn't want the car just sitting broken in the driveway, so I had to scrap her. I showed them what the cars go for now over Thanksgiving, and my mom hasn't stopped apologizing since.

Who ever said that Takumi would find a way to save it or convert the AE86 to electric in the first video, props to you. Called it and I am so happy that it’s true. This was absolutely beautiful. A good way to show that regardless of time, legends ever die.
This is beautiful I was almost close to tears seeing such a beautiful legend rotting away made me sad but takumi came back for his beloved 86 he would never abandon the car he loved
First of all, I'm surprised it can start the ignition process, let alone get the engine started and move, and I love the fact that it was parked with its younger brother. Second, Thank you for making a sequel, that previous video had me thinking of my car that is in the same situation right now and it made me feel poetic and sad. Finally, thank you for your effort and I hope there is a restored video of it if you decide to make it. Thank you for your efforts.
It would be closer to reality to see the electrics hesitate a bit and maybe blow a lot of smoke from the exhaust from sitting so long. Nevertheless, this is an awesome piece of work and the creator deserves all the credit they can get!
This is a best ending for a legendary car putting it to a racing organization is better then being rot to oblivion and get sandwich and put to scrap metal
My question is, why is this a retconned reality? Did Takumi hit hard time & have to sell off the carbon fiber hood, the gauge cluster & racing seat at minimum? Let's not forget this thing had a (full or maybe 1/2) cage towards the end. Pretty sure that was welded in. At no point was he ever actually poor cause Bunta had a savings account for Takumi back when he was 13 & put his wages as a delivery driver in there.... Without ever telling Takumi till he blew the engine. IDK man
The last video made me an old guy cry in sadness, this one has done the opposite and has made me cry in happiness. I've never even seen the show and to think of an iconic machine getting another chance at life gets me a bit emotional as a car guy.

@@Leozinhuu did a 5-2 down change by mistake and the con-rod on cylinder 3 shattered like glass. I was a teenager and couldn't afford to replace the engine. My parents offered to help, but it was the ONE time the supply of 4AGEs had completely dried up. My parents didn't want the car just sitting broken in the driveway, so I had to scrap her. I showed them what the cars go for now over Thanksgiving, and my mom hasn't stopped apologizing since.

@@theanimeotaku2794 and in the animation, after that race against that Karin Futo, this Karin Futo was fixed up but no longer useful for racing anymore, its now just running on a normal 20V instead of the modified version, puts about 200hp compare to 300hp

First of all, I'm surprised it can start the ignition process, let alone get the engine started and move, and I love the fact that it was parked with its younger brother.

It would be closer to reality to see the electrics hesitate a bit and maybe blow a lot of smoke from the exhaust from sitting so long. Nevertheless, this is an awesome piece of work and the creator deserves all the credit they can get!
This is a best ending for a legendary car putting it to a racing organization is better then being rot to oblivion and get sandwich and put to scrap metal

My question is, why is this a retconned reality?
Did Takumi hit hard time & have to sell off the carbon fiber hood, the gauge cluster & racing seat at minimum? Let's not forget this thing had a (full or maybe 1/2) cage towards the end. Pretty sure that was welded in. At no point was he ever actually poor cause Bunta had a savings account for Takumi back when he was 13 & put his wages as a delivery driver in there.... Without ever telling Takumi till he blew the engine.

Thank you! After seeing the abandoned lonely AE86 video a few years back, I was disheartened. Finally I was very happy to see the continuation of the video where Takumi Fujiwara's Tofu Delivery AE86 was rescued and taken to Fujiwara Auto Restoration.
Now we need if possible one more video of Fujiwara AE86 restored and drifting.
