Man Chris, I go back and forth from wanting your life/ wishing I had a buddy like you to being happy I never ran into anything close to the things that have played out in your life. Your a cool stand up guy and always tell your stories as a somewhat cautionary tail that have a lesson for someone to take from them. You lived it. We get to enjoy and learn from it.

I tried running the VIN (used random numbers to fill in for the blurred ones) and the WMI returns a company named Country Comfort Corp. from Indiana. I want to say they made travel trailers guessing by the name, and as far as I'm aware, turning a trailer into a motorcycle is illegal, since it's a given that VIN swapping already is.

Hey, that type of legal entanglement (having a friend in the FBI telling you not to call them for a few months) I’ll take all day and twice on Sunday. When the other side of the coin is ending up with a worthless stolen bike (or even worse, getting tagged for ownership of fenced items) in exchange for something worth quite a bit of money; the former doesn’t sound so bad!!

I want to know what kind of legal stuff has to happen before a story like this can be told. Like some of these stories are obviously a bit in the grey area, is it a matter of time passed, statute of limitations type stuff, or being vague enough by not using anyones names, blurring out key things like the vin number, etc? If other people are involved, do you need their permission or is it ok if you're just vague and don't use anything that could personally identify them unless you know who they are?
