I worked one summer for a lawyer who owned one of these Cadillacs except in white with a dark red interior. Driving it was like what I imagine piloting a Nimitz class carrier must be like, but it did get noticed, especially at the gas station (a constant destination) and driving around town. Definitely not built for speed, many of today's electric vehicles have better acceleration times and drag coefficient, but it was pre 1974. Spectacular looking in the triple black!
My parents in Pittsburgh bought one in 72' and 2 weeks later drove it to California to see me. The right front wheel flew off in Oklahoma. It took 2 days to repair. They never had another problem with it. They traded it in on a 76' Eldorado Coupe.
It's a stunning car in every way. From every angle! But I had one, when I was only 19 years old. The valve covers are supposed to be blue, and the trunk is supposed to be pinstriped too. The Cadillac emblem on the carburetor air bath it's not supposed to be there
I like everything about this car but the front. Its too bulky. Its not ugly but its not slick and stylish like the cadillacs from before. Still absolutely beautiful car tho. Where did you get these top covers that go on the roof when its down ?

Very nice looking car, but why is it so many people's knee-jerk reaction to put wide white side walls on a car? Just because it's 20 or 30 years old or a convertible, or what was viewed as a gangster car, back in the day; They are so not period correct, and look really hokey on a car from this time, where they were no longer used.
The Cadillac Eldorado was a little bit wider than any modern SUV wether that be Lincoln to jeep Cherokee of the modern computer suspension era, however it is not the largest by any margin. If you want to fit a fiat in the back trunk, kindly direct your attention to a Chrysler Lebaron 1970-1974, or a Oldsmobile 98, the dastardly wonderful Mercury 1970-75. Then there is other, many others I honestly am going to stop writing, I've left this since 7 p.m, now it is 11:55 that I am remembering my comment. Just do the research, you'll see, don't always trust the measurements they give you either, they are wildly offm
