With the property prices soaring higher and higher with each passing day, accommodating all the requirements of a functional house in a compact available space is a challenge that we all have faced at one point or the other. Having worked on a lot of projects which are located in Mumbai and suburbs, we now know of key things that need to be kept in mind while designing a compact space✨

One issue is with Top floor flats. Because of leakage issues, people avoid installing false ceiling given that the grid/anchoring is to be done which would mean drilling atleast 30 holes in the ceiling to hold the gypsum board.

As an Architect, I always advice my clients to go for simple and relatively plain back palettes aka walls and ceilings and add textures and patterns to changeable stuff such as upholstery and curtains. That gives flexibility of use and ambience without making civil changes to change the look.

I like to keep wall color and the colour of the doors same so that they don't look like breaks in the wall n give a seamless look

Excellent tips (as usual), nihara. Quick question - if you are mounting curtains high up, should it be on a track/channel on the ceiling, or can it be a curtain rod placed close to the ceiling? I feel its hard to mount curtains on tracks - if u miss one loop it looks untidy etc. What would u suggest?

Pls suggest some idea for source of natural light into dark/nearly windowless bedroom. Which shares one wall with living room.
earlier I thought of ventilator near ceiling but since it's a bedroom, don't want it to breach privacy

Please make a video on how to deal with leakages in flats… so often we get the renovation done & if there are any leakages from floor above, there is whole lot of expense as well as repairing to be done to false ceiling.. how to deal with this..

I feel aluminium is better. Aluminium sound proof domaal window is best. Video coming soon.
Using vertical space to store things, low height furniture, proper light placement, use of muted colors with color accents, using reflective and see through surfaces as required.... However I think that ceiling to floor curtains are not very practical for household use particularly because of cleaning issues(max height should be upto lintel)

Designers will charge anywhere between 5-10% of the project cost for planning and 3d. No material selection and Siite visits are included in this.
