Danke für die tolle Erklärung, wie diese Scheiden gemacht werden. Ich wusste nicht, dass da Holz drin ist. Gruß Tino Thanks for the great explanation of how these sheaths are made. I did not know there was wood in it. Greetings Tino
i like it Osmo i cant find anyone in the states that will make a sheath thats like the ones you make they are really the best for the knives you make I also must tell you that i love the dangler scandi style for my knives thanks Osmo
Thanks Allan! making of lesta is as important as any other part of sheath making. I have used plastic inlays due to easiness of it. Those wooden lestas, inlays are way harder to make. Happy to hear that you have found scandi sheaths in your hearth! Osmo
kaziklu79 I know what you mean. It does not give fully good shape nor cover for the sheath. I don’t get that if you can make or purchase a closen inlay. Thanks, Osmo
Thanks Wayne! Sometimes you make the drain hole and sometimes not. Well, with little work it's easy to add afterwards. There are also other known ways to make this inlay.
Wonderful!
That blade was something really special!!! Man, what a knife!!! 😯

Today's scandi sheath usually has got plastic inlay. Wooden inlays are part of the history in nordic knife making but really fun to do!

This is only the part of the secret my dear friend Taro! Have a great day! Osmo
Thank you for that. I've always wondered how that was done
Thanks! That was one way to do it. There are others too.
That symbol for "Thor Thunder" is very similar to the Hopi/Zuni Indian sign for rain which is the lightening bolt.
Beautiful piece work.👍👍I can't wait for your next project.
Thank you!

Great job,
Thanks my friend!
Excellent!
I have seen such inlays which don't have a front wall. What do you think about this?
kaziklu79 I know what you mean. It does not give fully good shape nor cover for the sheath. I don’t get that if you can make or purchase a closen inlay. Thanks, Osmo
Thanks for the info my friend!
Excellent job Osmo, but, no drain hole?why ? ....how about exposing 1/2 the wood, bottom, next time on a similar make to this
Thanks Wayne! Sometimes you make the drain hole and sometimes not. Well, with little work it's easy to add afterwards. There are also other known ways to make this inlay.
...thats an amazing sheath Osmo...do you soak the leather in water before?
Yes, it was soaked like all the wet molded sheaths beforehand with my tecniques. Thanks, Osmo
That was great, i love your work. would you demo how you form the sheath please?
soCKrates Thank you! There are couple of videos showing wetmolding a scandi sheath on my channel. Osmo

КРАСОТА.
благодаря!
wie soll das gehen? Das Messer kann man doch nicht aus der Scheide ziehen. Klinge ist doch breiter als das Leder am Griff
Wolfgang Ottinger The handle is always a bit higher (thicher) that the mouth of the sheath so it works.
