    This was a fun video to watch! I’m having so much fun seeing different creators fall knitting plans. This summer I didn’t really do “summer knits” and instead just worked on sweaters and then a shawl for my Nana, so I’m almost done with a sweater and after that I wanna do a hat with some cool Taylor Swift themed yarn and after that I wanna try brioche. Very specific plans for this fall lol

    If you're still looking for a chocolate brown yarn, I bought some recently from scandanavianknittingdesign (a UK based yarn shop) from the Sandnes Garn brand in 3082. I was worried that it wouldn't be dark enough because I wanted a dark chocolate shade (any lighter, and I look sallow, brown isn't really my colour unless it's cool toned) so I paired it with a strand of Alva from Filcolana in the shade Espresso, which I bought from Knitt UK. It created a lovely tonal variegation which I like at the moment, and darkened the 3082 Peer Gynt further which was perfect. I'm more of a solid yarn colour girlie, but if it's tonal, I don't mind it. I'm based in New Zealand so both orders took a few weeks to arrive, it should be much faster shipping for you though.

      these are such great recs, thank you so much for sharing!! sounds like we have really similar color preferences! i look way better in cool toned browns than warm (but i just love the caramel knitting for olive color so that's my exception lol) i also much prefer solid colors or tonal so that's why i'm probably going to be doing a lot of mohair projects this winter, to tone down the variegated yarns i got from a friend! the peer gynt 3082 & alva filcolana espresso both look totally like the deep browns i'm looking for!

    This was an enjoyable video. I started knitting the Jenny sweater a few months ago and was glad it was bottom-up because when it was time to join the sleeves, I decided to take a different route. I'm not a fan of crew neck either and spent some time watching videos on how to convert to a v-neck. Days later - with a lifeline in place - I modified the sweater from a crew neck to a v-neck. When it was about done and a few rows away from joining the shoulders, I kind of lost interest because I realized the challenge was almost over and the Eva cardigan was released. It's silly because I only have a few rows before I cast off and complete the neck.
    I've always liked Sweater no. 15 but the crew neck had put me off for so long. My experience with the modified Jenny Sweater will be handy when making a v-neck Sweater no. 15. I'm a fan of top-down sweaters, but the bottom-up construction of the Jenny sweater made it so much easier when calculating the v-neck decreases. It's also easier to stay in pattern. PK released a top-down version of the Jenny Cardigan so you could knit a regular pullover that way by joining in the round once the sleeve depth length is reached.
    Maybe it's the sense of fall, but I decided to knit my Eva cardigan in a dark chocolate color; I held a cashmere/merino blend yarn with silk mohair and can't wait to complete this. I understand your search for the perfect brown color.

      i totally agree, bottom-up makes it way easier to stay in pattern for a v-neck! sounds like we have super similar taste with liking v-necks much more than crew necks, and both gravitating towards chocolate brown right now! your eva cardigan sounds beautiful, i'd love to know which yarn you used??

      @@starcrossedknits I'm all about the V-neck - of course, it has to be the right depth. I have to scrutinize patterns because even when some are v-neck, they may be too shallow and look a bit off. The yarn I used was Colourmart 4ply cashmere/merino blend (30% cashmere/70% merino) held double with Drops Kid silk(inexpensive yarn). Drops is an affordable yarn brand and could be hit or miss, even within their kidsilk offerings. However, this color worked well and was not prickly at all. Since my gauge was different than the pattern, I made some modifications.
      I was not sure whether to post the yarn brand, but it is a wonderful option for luxury yarn since they sell mill ends at a great price. They carry 100% cashmere yarn amongst others, and their cashwool is one of my favorites.

      @@Enig_Mata no thank you so much for sharing!! i was actually JUST looking at colourmart the other day while i was searching for nice coned yarns i could use on my knitting machine, so i'm glad to hear another positive review from them, i'll definitely be checking them out! i'm sensitive to prickly mohair too so i always get nervous about buying online, but i'll check out drops the next time i'm looking too. i ended up finding some dark brown lana grossa mohair at my lys and decided to just use that, it's definitely more $$$ than drops but i'm in love with the color and texture so far!!

    pleaseeee make a video of your reclaiming yarn from the sweaters! i’m always searching for sweaters but have no idea how to attempt unraveling it.

    • @starcrossedknits
      @starcrossedknits  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      i'll do it the next time i thrift one!! it def takes a little trial and error to figure out what are the right parts to snip that let you unravel really easily with minimum breaks in the yarn!

      honestly it was such a lucky find!! i didn't even know i wanted that color in my life so badly until i found it. i also just realized i should be checking the men's section for sweaters now too, idk why i never looked through there before either lol

      @@starcrossedknits I haven't gotten the chance to wear it yet, since it's still on the needles, but so far so good! I've also worked with Drops Lima, which has the same fiber content (65% wool 35% alpaca) in a DK weight and found that it had a bit of itch before blocking but that it softened quite a bit and it doesn't bother me at all now!

    Lol I’ve also been having the hardest time finding the right cable pattern because of the exact same issues you mentioned: every pattern I see is either too yonic or too fossilized prehistoric hahaha. I’m like damn, do I have to design one myself??

      i was def thinking of naked knit with the cashmere camisole idea!! i don't think i'd get a ton of wear out of a knitted bralette but they do look really special and nice! and the wavy hoops are from madewell :)

    Hey, if you don’t like mohair, what’s about suri? Doesn’t it make the difference? Because many People recommend this instead of mohair.

    • @starcrossedknits
      @starcrossedknits  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      yes that's a great tip, suri is sooo soft and i never get any itch from it. honestly i should look for suri options, i've only worked with it once and don't have as many options at my LYS so i just forget about it, but it is really nice!!
