Use heat shrink conditioners wire nuts are not meant to go underwater
I blame Biden for that decision on not adding the water proof nutz
Hahaha
Do you unplug your connections before you submerge that trailer in the water? My dad has always told me to do that because the water and the electrical current when the wire is activated via you hitting the brakes will cause those wires to corrode faster than they should.
Good tip, i will try that. I noticed my new led lights on my trailer are already showing rust where the bulbs are.
I use to then started forgetting to… so no hahaha
Think about this for a moment... You back your boat in, launch, go fishing, come back and load the boat, if the moisture isn't completely dry (which it isn't) the same issue exists with the boat in or out of the water, this isn't the problem. The problem is that the light fixtures themselves are not waterproof. and the moisture will stay in the fixtures for days.
One thing to help water proof the lights.. after attaching the connectors cover them sumbitches in some clear silicone.. it won't hurt anything and it's easy enough to get off of needed
Good idea
Optronics from Academy are great. I bought the regular style lights( bulbs) and have never had an issue. I fish every weekend on Saturday and Sunday both. They get a work out and haven’t had an issue since putting them on.
I’ve heard from them old school cats, they could back there boat up and never have a problem for years
@@DudeLetsFish exactly. Newer isn’t always better. BTW. I guess I’m old school because I’m 53 and the new stuff still hasn’t impressed me much. Lol.
@@brianschumacher3204 always heard the original bulbs have lasted way longer than the LED’s even when dumped in the water
Did you find good ones that actually last?
So far!!
Yeah Amazon wire is good for nothing
