I’m realizing that the natural morning light coming in my windows is way better than any lights I’ve ever tried. May have to start doing morning videos more often. Thanks so much. You guys means the world to all of us involved.
You sound crisp, the AM hands work better for me! Good stuff as always GT!
Sounds good, looks good!
Just started out with TH-cam guitar lesson videos myself, inspired by you Guthrie, although despite my 40 years band experience I feel kind of unworthy when I watch you! Way to go yet for me, but I'm learning so much as I go along. You make it look so easy - playing guitar and presenting to the camera! You should post this link to the French family show or even repost it on your channel - fabulous example of the Nashville scene! th-cam.com/video/zTMwLUUjJ8M/w-d-xo.html
Not enough people commented on "the Kia G". NICE. The 6/2/5/1 has to be the most fertile ground for mining Country licks and learning theory, not in that order but it sounded better to write it that way. Thanks a million, Guthrie. Huge thumbs up to you!
20 minutes of listening becomes 20 weeks of breakdown to get what your putting across That's what I love about you There's so much information Keep it up Guthrie your the best on TH-cam
Glad you enjoy it!
40 minutes at half-speed over here...
I love the fact that these videos are unedited......Please keep them that way.....That's what makes them so entertaining
Thanks a bunch! We don’t know how to do it any other way ha
Im glad you don’t edit!!! We can see your thought process working an idea out. That’s a lesson in itself!!! Great job!!!
I appreciate that!
@@guthrietrappmusicNo need for editing with this high production value. Keepin it raw and real for the folks.
The "come back" at 9:24 made me spew Dr Pepper ALL OVER my phone!!! You, Sir, are so ridiculously great and I pretty much smile every time I watch you play. Bravo!
Please keep leaving mistakes in! You play like a god, and you're actually human and not afraid to be one. Inspirational!!! Your excitement is contagious, thank you!!!
Thanks for keeping it real with no edits. I Love the real life of it all. You are putting in the work and are a great teacher. Well done.
I appreciate that!
Jesus. Continually in awe of your playing.
Thanks a bunch man
Hold on everybody. GT’s off the rails on this one! But honestly, that’s why I love you man. You’re not afraid to say & play whatever comes into your mind. I thank you for that.
I appreciate that!!
Do you not rest? Come on man, this stuff is insane. That intro was crazy. Thank you for donating your time to make us better. Much love.
And that's why I watch. No slick bullshit from you. Raw, organic talent on display. Keep at it GT!
After years of strictly playing with a pick, watching, listening, and learning from you, I realize how bad I suck at finger/chicken pickin. Thanks for taking the time Guthrie!
Thanks a bunch man!
Ooooh, that makes two of us !
Cheers from Ireland my man always enjoy and learn something from u bro thanks and take care 🇮🇪🇮🇪🎸🎸🎸
Good for you! Enjoy it while it last! Things can change pretty quick! Normally every 5 years or so! Love your channel. You finally drilled sense in my playing!
Yes! Thank you!
My fav to grab ideas from out of anyone! You are a true inspiration and an awesome talent!! Thanks for sharing your talent 🎸🎸🎸🎸🔥🔥🔥🔥
THANK YOU for not fixing your mistakes Guthrie. It’s just playing examples and not meant to be perfection. And one has to only check out your live shows or recordings to know how great you really play. Great videos sir.
Just watched "Made in Japan". Wow! The French Family Band is great old country music. I'm now a fan. Much appreciated Guthrie!
By the way, I probably would have never found Jon Cleary and the Absolute Monster Gentlemen if it wasn't for you. Big fan of his now. Planning a trip to New Orleans to see him live. Much Appreciated!
I love to watch how you deconstruct to construct new tunes. Get up at 5 every morning to play before the day.Its the best time to play with no interruptions for me. You are inspiring!
This was one of my favorite videos so far! And I bet I've seen almost all of yours and they're all good but this one really was useful! Thanks!
Actually I appreciate you leaving the mistakes in, usually you make it look so easy that it's kind of nice to get a peek behind the curtain and see that everyone struggles at times. Great stuff man, truly inspiring and soooo musical not just technically brilliant.
Many, eventually would love to see a video talking about any tips and your approach to flatpicking. Those licks at 10:30 are amazing!
Mr GT, you are virtuoso musician, and because you are willing to let us see you working through things, hiccups and all, well, it gives me a great deal of hope that if i keep at it, warts and all, that i can only become a better musician (though i would have to slow these videos down to a tenth of the speed to even begin to understand what you are doing :). The realness you, Uncle Larry and Jedd demonstrate is such a breath of fresh air.
Thanks a million man! Means a lot
Mr Trapp that intro was epic!❤🎸 God bless!!
I've been improvising, poorly, for 30 years. Your videos have ignited my playing and passion for playing. I didn't think it was possible at my age! You are #1 for me right now. Thanks!
Great stuff man! I love that you don’t edit!!!! No extra charge for mistakes!😂❤🔥🔥🔥
Hey @guthrie trapp I love how you keep the little flubs and stuff and don't try to make it too polished - believe it or not, that's something that I think a lot of us resonate with. It keeps it real!! There's 100 channels of overedited videos which takes away the realness. Yours, Tom's, and Jedd's are just good solid real no BS videos and we love it!
You simply can't beat a great Tele like yours. I wish I've lived in Nashville. All the best. Best of luck in your future endeavors man!!
Thank you kindly!
One of my favorite openings yet. Such a vibe.
Thanks man!
GOD BLESS YOU GUTHRIE,,,,AND YOUR GOOD FREINDS,,,,I CAN'T WAIT TO MOVE TO TENNESSEE TO JUST PLAY GUITAR , JAM AND BE AROUND MUSICIANS THAT I COULD HANG WITH AND ENJOYING LIFE TO THE FULLEST. - RJ
French family are great, been following them for a few years
Indeed!
@@guthrietrappmusic Me too! Check out some of the studio videos of Camille and Stuie back in Australia, she has an incredible voice. If you don't mind being asked, what frets are you running and what is your fretboard wood? It looks dark enough to be ebony.
There are world class players, and there are world class teachers, and if you took a Venn Diagram of the two I bet you could count the number people where they intersect on one hand. Guthrie is one of those individuals who happens to fall in that intersection.
Bravo, man keep rockin' this stuff !!!
What a f'ing inspiration you are Guthrie. Love you.
Saw a bunch of your vids from the CD release party - man your tone is so organic and uncluttered that every single pick stroke is really highlighted and forward - great stuff -
Thanks man. Thats nice to hear 👍🎶😎
Thanks Guthrie! Appreciate everything you are sharing!
My pleasure!
I love that your videos are unedited. I can't stand perfectly edited videos and backing tracks. Keep em coming!
Glad you like them!
@@guthrietrappmusic yep - don't change a thing.
I'll be working on this all day .. and all tomorrow .. and all ... Wow. Thanks, cuz'n G!
You got it!
You're definitely ready for some mandolin this afternoon! Thank you for being human, Guthrie, and for being an inspiration. Just once, I'd love for you to experience what it's like in my head and heart and hands, when you drop another classic GT video. Thank you. Peace. Love. Music.
Thanks a million! Means a lot
Living on the edge totally love it a couple off times you left the reservation for sure ❤
Getting to hang with you while you work through it warts and all gives us insight into the creative process as well as demonstrating how to tackle tough passages in a way that 'perfect' videos simply can't.
Keep it real.
Gutherie, I’m nine minutes and 39 seconds in stopping to comment, I love that. Man I’m already in the video. I’m not gonna stop and edit it. You’re so real keep it up. Enjoying all your success.
I don’t know what I loved more….1st great DS ideas to build on.
2nd, your natural raw good Timein personality on film.
Love the crazy vibe 🤪 GT. I’ll see you when I get back home from Europe…
Transcribing this whole damned thing because its all good shit. Love you GT. Everyone - Tip this man at least one buck. This video is like a month of lessons.
Monster player, you are.
So much to digest here.
Thank you for helping me on my journey
Kudos to you GT ! Realtime guitar expertise and a very enjoyable, relatable hang for us mortals 👊
Omg Guthrie on fire, practice stuff for whole year. Thanks man for your art, thanks
This is so awesome! Thanks! The great thing about the 'mistakes' (or 'Happy Accidents' as Bob Ross called them) is that as a viewer you can actually 'see' what's going on in your mind, how you build these chords and from that the licks.
It reminds me a bit of my old chemistry teacher. He hadn't teached chemistry for more than 20 years, but he knew his stuff. But because it was long ago, you could see his thought process, which really helped understanding the material (at least for me it did...)
Thats why we love you mistakes and all
Dude. You have inspired me greatly. Your videos have been a catalyst for getting motivated as best as this little, small town teacher can. I am writing a book for the students that I typically see which is beginners. It is a basic outline of the basic arpeggios for C, F, G and Dm using the CAGED system. I give the basic arpeggios for each position of CAGED with super.... super... simple melodic examples using the blues scale for each one. I then do a phrase of 5 to 1, 4 to 1, and 2m to 1 with sets of arpeggios for each and melodic examples. I hope to do string sets of 3 going up the guitar for each inversion with... you guessed it... simple melodic ideas for each. I hope to also get to include the extensions and the the pentatonic scales as a way to relate to all this material as well. I know that it will help the students I see. It's a TON of work and YOUR videos are a part of the catalyst that inspired me to get to work. Thank you, Guthrie. I am happy to hear that you are enjoying your life so much. That's great to hear.
Around 10:00 to 11:00 is the best guitar playing I have ever heard I am pretty sure.
A lifetimes worth of woodshedding in twenty minutes...Gracias, Professor Trapp!
I just checked out the French Family on your mention. I watched their Opry debut - 1945.
Well, it tuns out I live in Tasmania too. So if I never started following your channel, chances are I'd never would have found out about another amazing band from Tasmania. You've definitely made my day with a cool story.
Plus the story of that song is about his Dad picking up the Grand Ol Opry on his radio back in 1945, In Tasmania, and how nearly 50 years later his son had a chance to stand on the Ryman stage, where his Dad first heard them radio waves from.
Just love how ‘authentic’ you are Guthrie!
Killer licks and chops! Thank you Mr. Trapp 🎸
Great stuff! I'm left speechless which is rare for me! Thanks, man!
Bro just got home from work and getting a lesson from you is the best way to end my day. Thank you again bro. Salud!
Great lesson Guthrie, thank you.
Keep doing your thing Guthrie!!!!
Will do! Thank you
It's the mistakes I gladly pay extra for Guthrie man 😘
A well set-up telecaster is gold in your pocket.
Beautiful Drop D stuff ... is that what's going on in The King of the Hill? I bet it is and you've been vibing on it all week.
Love from Yoorp
you're changing the game for me and many others... Keep spreading the gospel GT😎
Great to hear that!!
GT thanks for keeping it real! Great lesson and thanks for sharing! It was a pleasure seeing and meeting you friday & saturday night at 3rd & Lindsey's! Peace
The Alabama Jubilee!!! I'm only familiar with the Jerry Reed's version but always dug the tune. You're killing it man! 😊
Thanks man! Reed was the cat!
@@guthrietrappmusic He was a BALLER!!! I have often wondered how it would have played out for him if he hadn't gotten the acting bug. Don't get me wrong _ he was funny as shit and could even play straight stuff_ but Waterboy and Smokey and the Bandit likely did more for his bottom line than his records ever did. But as he once said on the old Porter Waggoner show while referencing Ray Charles "... Now that cat can PICK!!!" ' and so can you my friend. Glad to see you're keeping the thing going here in the 21st century. Cheers!!
Man, this was a great one Guth! Love the chord progression.
One of your best intros yet. Great fun !
Try playing while explaining what you’re doing, mentioning the chord and chord shape you’re in. Just changing the meter can totally throw you off so I think we all appreciate Guthrie’s genuineness! When just playing he nails it! Just a joy to witness.
Another classic vid Laughing and Learnin Thanks GT
Glad you enjoyed it!
ThankQ again GT ! Now I’m super-conscious of what my picking hand and fingers are doing (more like not doing) ! Cheers from the Land of Smiles !!! 😎🇺🇸🇹🇭🇺🇸⚓️🎸✅☕️😸🤠😎
Golden Guthrie❤ the man who changed the Guitar World of a lot of players‼️🎶 the answer is in the🎵👀 freedom🤠🫶
Thanks man!
Great article in Guitar Player brother. Congratulations. Keep bringing these great ideas. Teach an old dog new tricks. Thanks.
Thanks! Will do!
Such great stuff here ! You guys just have to be the best in the business!
Damn that intro noodling sounds Nasty. I watched a little, commented and then watched more. The Drop D is why it sounds so swampy and nasty but I didn't pick up on it until Guthrie told us. Man, I've got to use my ears a little better. 🤠 I also paused to check out the French Family Band, How fun are they? Thanks for recommending great music Guthrie. Back to the video. Take care all.
Yea man! Thank you! The French Family! Yes indeed. Super talents
Hey Guthrie, congrats on GP piece! You and Tommy definitely class up that magazine. Love the Southern Pop comment! Some great plunking as usual on that Tele
I’d love to learn all that country stuff!
May slow it down and learn it.
Sounds cool af
I just watched you and Tom on Rick Beato. As I've said before...you are a monster! A very humble monster!
Very cool Guthrie! Slick little descending move and that tritone approach is killer
You rock dude! Digging everything you do
The master speaks!!!
I wish!!
Wonderful human and tips! Thanks, GT!
Brotha, I live in Florida; I can promise you it was just our sweltering humidity and heat temporarily getting into your tele. Playing outdoor gigs down here and then putting your guitar back in the ac is wild. Might as well just leave it outside 😂
Wow ...Platinum all the way!
Thanks man!
Good to see you, Guthrie!
I'm still at the beginning of your video (I had to reboot my phone, just to be able to add a comment, don't know why it does that!), but anyway, I know exactly what you mean about eliminating conflict & drama & BS from your life. My wife & I decided to do that years ago, and our lives are SO MUCH better and stress-free!
It's truly wonderful.
Only problem is, we don't have much of a community right now, lol. I guess there aren't enough like-minded ppl in our circle. Maybe we'll move to Nashville when she retires? Don't know, we want to move somewhere, I guess it depends on what we can afford, & other factors.....
(TN is def on MY list! All my fav musicians live there, I want to be in that kinda company!)
+++++
Glad to see you've achieved it, and that you have all that community support!
+++++
Now, back to the video, and the lesson!
Awfully awesome licks, BTW!
Thank you for the lesson!
👍 👌
GT, you are AWESOME and deserve all the best!!! MANY, MANY THANKS for your amazing videos!
I love that you don't edit your videos, Guthrie...That makes them real and fun.
Hey I just checked out the French family. Thanks Guthrie they are amazing talent. You’re pretty awesome yourself brother!
5:00 May you enjoy continued coolness for you and your group 🙏🏼✊🏼
Just awesome dude ! Such great nuggets of gold to learn. You rock Guth !!
That slap back in the intro 🔥
Outstanding!
GT you are da man bro!
Thanks man!
I enjoyed the heck out of this video, thanks G.T.
Thanks man!
NICE ONE SQUIRREL,, LOVE IT.
I often watch just to hear the playing :)
Thanks man!
I'm stickin' with it Guthrie it's cool.....I dg the struggle!
You are a treasure GT!! Keep the faith brother!!
man so many things to say. firstly is i'm always proud of myself when i recognize something you play. cage and traids have really helped me and ear training has really allowed me to hear all of the sounds, major, minor, dim, dom, sus. but man i need those open string runs in my life. i have figured out that all keys have an open note or two and i play them in first position chords like say an E flat. but as far as open runs, it's confusing. next is that gig with vince gill and uncle larry was off the hook. vince sounds as good as he did in the 90's. not many singers can maintain their voices with age. i certainy lost mine. but those solos you played were just blazing. its incredible how you guys react so spontaneously in real time to whatever is happening in such a musical way. i wish i lived in nashville so i could go to the clubs but between you and uncle larry i feel like i live there in a way. thanks for all the content
It is super fun indeed. Thanks a million. This town makes you try harder year after year.
Damn Guthrie, even your clams are amazing! Seriously, thanks for being human not editing stuff.
Lawd have mercy that boy can play
Thanks a million!
Chicago...you..Buk and friends.. I'm in.
Hell yes.
Thanks, GT!!
You bet!
Amazing GT🎉
Dude you're just BADASS on that thing!
