Filming and editing the videos takes a lot of time and energy (and a LOT of tea!), so thank you very much!
A new Jon Gupta summit video!? It's a good weekend! Honestly the best mountaineering videos out there. Incredible stuff.
Thanks so much, glad you like them! :)
Yes, absolutely. Has to be a new fave. "In Deep Films" is my all time fave but they don't do anything anymore.
This guy's make the best videos I've seen wild stuff so cool
Thank you for taking us with you to the fifth highest summit in the world! Congratulations Jon 🤜🌟🤛
My pleasure!!
Once again, The greatest 8000m videos come from Jon. You give us a view of the route and obstacles and it makes it seem possible for us who aspire to make the attempt. Best Makalu (and K2, Kangchenjunga, and Everest) climbing video(s) online.
Thanks Dan, much appreciated!
The way this man tackles every mountain with such composure and confidence is wild. Seems like everyone he does is just a weekend hike. Truly amazing!!!
That is due to the fact of having great sherpas ;)
He's an athlete who stays in peak shape.
The way night gives way to twilight is so magical on top of the world. surely an indescribable feeling that is beyond magical
Wow, I just found your channel, and I have to say, you are amazingly astonishing. The videos are awesome, and I can't forget how much I forwarded them to my friends. Keep going man ❤
Another masterpiece. Your calm nature really provides confidence to new high altitude climbers. Mental focus is 50% and you demonstrate it so well
Thanks for the comment 🙏
I really appreciate this literally free superb content.
I would like to experience alpinism myself one day, but I live in a tropical country and at the moment it is simply something I cannot afford.
So I settle for crowning the peaks of my country and watching your videos while my moment arrives.
Well done Jon! inspiring me as I look forward to my first 6000m with Louche in March! Doubt I'll ever get higher (finances etc) but to be even there and to EBC is a dream inspired by folks like you. Even those of us scared of heights can do what we dare to dream!
Great stuff! May I suggest some footage of the decent from the summit as that’s not done in the pitch dark. It was also be interesting to see how you get down some of the more challenging pitches.
A new video?! Best Christmas gift ever!! I’ve been rewatching your videos for weeks now 🎉
haha, your welcome! Merry Christmas!
Okay not the highest, but Makalu is a significantly greater challenge than Everest. Superb video, and congratulations. Shame that height is correlated with achievement.
Jon's videos are the only mountain climbing videos where I feel like I'm walking next to him. From the beautiful sights to the crisp sounds, his videos are the best, pure-climbing videos out there!
Thank you very much, i'm glad you enjoy them :)
Awesome video!
Could you make a gear related video where you tell us all the gear you've brought including food and water?
Congrats Jon and team! I really think this is the best 8000m summit video I have ever seen. You take us from Base Camp all the way to the top in an easy to follow style. Brilliant Jon thank you for this.
Thanks Anthony! Glad you enjoyed the video 👍 did you see the Everest or K2 ones?
@@JonGupta Yeah watched K2 and Kanch. Both great particularly Kanch. Footage I had never seen before which was incredible.
You don’t conquer a mountain, A mountain allows you to summit
Yeah ... Makalu ... traipsing around on those mountains there, there's nothing I'd rather do on a lazy Sunday afternoon, you know? Get out, get some fresh air, a little altitude high, a bit of map reading ... nice! Seriously, it just struck me that most videos and documentaries are about "Everest" or "Lhotse" or some other name brand peak, when in reality it's a maze of mountains and valleys stretching for many miles in all directions. Exaggerating an analogy, it''s more like an ocean of big waves, than it is naming a few particular waves. If it were not all so well mapped out, it would be a bit of a trick to tell which peak was highest, just mountain after mountain after mountain (mostly rocks and ice) as far as you can see.
Your videos are so inspirational and motivating. The fact you have one hand on an 8k mountain and the other holding a camera is just crazy. I’ve watched all of you summiting videos at least 10 times each, I’m drawn towards mountaineering and working on losing weight and becoming fitter to start that journey and your videos are motivating me to do that. I’ll be buying you an earl grey or two as a thank you for these awesome videos. Thank you mate
Thank you very much!! You're comments are very kind and much appreciated. Good luck with all your goal and mountaineering ambitions. I hope you manage to enjoy your times spent in the mountains - don't forget to take some tea with you!
Makalu, one of the most beautiful aesthetic shaped mountains, absolutely awesome 😮🙏
Are you planning to do all 14 8k peaks? Just curious!
The fact that you made the summit. Beautiful, but to do it holding a selfy stick is a thing in itself. Great job!!!
Jon can you do a video on how someone can get started on mountaineering now basically without no money, what are all the kit that is required?
I think, and i'm absolutely no expert bro, but real mountaineering is impossible to do without a couple thousands. From what i understand in forums, videos etc, gear is super important. You should never save on gear because it can make the difference when placed in cold weather situations. Frostbite is no joke. Go up a mountain with shit shoes you gonna find out very soon what cold feet are 😂 now if jon say something different excuse my amateurism lol. But I think you should never save on gear. If something, buy the most expensive gear there is. Peace
I’m new subscriber in your channel , I like supporting fellow Brits . Your doing job reaching the mighty mountains of the Himalayas.Keep Safe
Thanks and welcome!
Finally Makalu! What can one say but congrats and amazing! What a view 😍 Pity that video stops before the sunrise, would be amazing to see the glow of Everest in first rays and also the way back down to camp 3 in the daylight. Maybe later you will post longer version with that included
Bro, I've watched your videos on Mount Everest, K2 and now this one, HOOOOOW TF DO YOU GET SO LUCKY W/ THE WEATHER lmao that's crazy
It's pretty simple...I pay for, then read, a very good weather forecast. I then wait and plan and then go when its good!
Next Annapurna please
These guys did everything right: the equipment, the timing, the mental attitude. And they were blessed with good weather. Well done!
These videos are by far the best summit videos on TH-cam, keep up the good work!
can you please make a video with some more explanations of technical part and how you put the ropes? do you use the old ropes that you find on the mountain from previous climbers? I really want to learn more and hope one day I can have the experience to hit the bigger mountains. now I do small peaks and this year I want to make the Mont Blanc and Matterhorn. These will be my firs serious peaks. Good luck and keep this good work going, can't wait to watch and learn from future videos.
Absolutely incredible summit video! Really enjoying seeing you scale these massive 8000 meter peaks!
Awesome! Been waiting for another video.......
Свака част на жељи и храбрости да освајате ове прелепе врхове наше планете❤👍🇷🇸 поздрав из Србије 🥰
jako mu je lep kanal, uvek jedva cekam novi video
Hey Jon I've been patiently waiting for another video from you. And I'm sooo happy it's here finally. Thank you and please always stay safe out there.
Amazing view 😍 ❤️ ♥️ best regards from Poland 🇵🇱
ABSOLUTELY MEGA! Love all the videos, Jon! Very inspirational! Be safe out there!!
Thank you! Will do!
Great video as always. Congratulations on climbing Makalu. The view from the top was amazing. Thank you for sharing. ATB from Norway 🇳🇴
Thank you :)
How do you video from above when you're standing on the summit? i don't see a stick or drone?
He has a stick
I WAITED FOR A NEW VIDEO FOR SO LONG I REALLY HOPE U ARE DOING ALL 14!
What camera did you use for this too? And I'm guessing you just recorded the audio straight to the camera and not any external mic?
All recorded on GoPro and yes, just using internal mic's.
These are my new favorite videos on TH-cam. It is so soothing and relaxing to watch. Yet inspiring. I love watching awesome people doing awesome stuff. Looking forward to more of these. Thank you.
I'm addicted to your videos now.. keep climbing man..
Thanks, will do!
Epic and magnificent!! Wowza Congrats!!
Great video as always Jon! Thanks for posting.
Loving your summit journey videos...so inspiring thank you so much.
We are blessed to be able to see such videos. Thank you. Your work is so amazing!
May i suggest that you also post videos of the descent? I would find that very interesting, especially as it is the hardest part, isn't it?
Keep on keeping on and stay healthy!
Excellent video... keep up the good work, thx bro!
Curious to know what youre wearing. Whats the blue and the outer orange midlayers?
What sort of tents do you guys use. I never see the brands of them on it only sponsors or expeditions.
Mostly Mountain Hardwear tents!
Still an amazing journey with your vidéo, Jon. Everything looks so easy, so fluid! The summit is like a promise but we can understand the way to reach it. One more time you are not the hero gargling to be a superman, only an expert and passionate mountaineer sharing with us his magnificent climbs. And always this tone of simplicity. Great mountains, great videos, great Jon! ❤
Thanks for the you lovely comment!
Amazing summit again, thanks Jon!
He is back with what is going to be one of the greatest summit videos, yet again!!
Wonderful!

What is the system called that he uses for je jummar and anchor? And is there some info about it somewhere? Oh and a great video again! Hoping to get many more!
Hats off to you Jon Gupta, you make an 8000'er expedition look like an easy adventure 😉...
Hi Jon, Just curious, why is your surname Gupta?
Among all the mountainers' videos i like yours most. Great work. I feel like i climb with u to the amazing 8000s
Thank you 🙏
Great video! What camera do you use? The insta 360 x3? How many batteries do you take up? Can you recharge them?
GoPro 360 and GoPro Hero 9. Just had one spare battery for each one 👍 keep the batteries warm when not filming and they’re fine. You can recharge them if you carry a power bank!
Amazing video as always Jon!!!! You show us the true beauty of the peaks of the world. I would love to see a video from you on Denali! As always thank you for your videos and congratulations!!!!!!
Sadly I didn't video my Denali climb in full so I don't really have enough for a video, maybe another time.
@@JonGupta I’m sure it was an amazing climb! Can’t wait to see your next video!!! Stay safe!!
Wicked edit Jon 👌👌
Congrats Jon....gr8 going....next may be Manaslu
I have the footage all ready to go...it's in the pipeline!
How were you able to summit in just 3 days, I thought it would take much longer than that due to the acclimatizing period
We were fully acclimatised from having just climbed Kanchenjunga the week before!
Videography so irritating man
I know, I wish he'd stop talking too.

Beautiful
absolutely amazing, my fav out of the 4 so far because its such a small and intimate group, who put the lines in for you? must have been dangerous on the ridge, phew! also, I would be very interested in seeing you go down! I know most often its the part thats most dangerous and at the limits of your body, but how do you wiggle around others that are going up etc. the perspective is also much more daunting because its not the mountain in front of you, there is nothing but a lot of space :D
Thank you so much for sharing with us your mountain climbing journeys, the views are very very fantastic. Majestic nature 😍
Annapurna hill summit please
Hello Sir, Any plans for Nanga Parbat ? Or any new summit plans this year?
Yes, i think there could be plans for Nanga Parbat in 2026...and there are always big mountain plans in the pipeline!
Stunning video as always Jon. All the best pal
Love your videos, they are truly unique. Are you attempting to summit all fourteen 8000ers? Looking forward to hopefully more successful summit videos in '24, stay safe!
So sick that you were able to summit this time. Massive congrats! what a joy it is to watch.
Thanks so much!
Your videos are unreal.
The quality, your charm, and no nonsense approach make them addictive to watch!
An incredible human.
I love these videos so much
Another brilliant video Jon! What camera did you do the filming on ?
All on GoPros’s 👍
I’m not even half way through your film and I have to say, well done, very nicely commentary and filmed. Thankyou for sharing this with us. Rockies Canada ✌️🇨🇦
This is without a doubt the best Makalu video on TH-cam! Makalu is a mountain I have long been interested in so this is epic. Spectacular video mate, keep it up 🙌
Glad you enjoyed it!
We all were waiting for new videos , congrats 🥊🙏🏿
Wow, Wow, Wow That was a tricky little climb!! The traverse had no foot holds at all 😮
The summit ridge is super cool, one of my favourites ever!
พูเขาเอเวอเรสต์เหรอครับ
Truly incredible videos Jon. WTG. Stay safe
Thank you!
Great videos jon 👌, its like we are their with you blokes, 👌. Amazing experience, just luv Nepal and the beautiful Himalayas, words cannot describe. Huge shout out to the sherpas, without them nothing would be possible 👍👌🙏
THE BET CHANEL ABOUT CLIMBING
Love when this man posts keep up the great videos and stay safe 🙏🏼
Anxiously waiting for any new video update on this channel
Coming soon!
your videos are amazing, i hpe one day i could climb aconcagua. would u go again there?
Aconcagua is a brilliant expedition and one of my first ones! I hope you manage to get there one day.
Finally a new video!
Which glasses are you wearing? Looking for a new pair after I broke my old ones.
PS: I recommended you Jocko Willinks Podcast with the Asian-American Navy Seal/Medical Doc/NASA-Astronaut a while ago - maybe you remember :)
Hey there! YES I remember your recommendation on Insta, it’s one of the best I’ve ever listened too!
@@JonGupta which are the glasses you're wearing? They look good and probably do the part :)
Next Gen legend.
@JonGupta. Amazing video. Maybe this was asked earlier, but I was not able to find the comments. Could you please describe how do you manage carrying your camera and shooting while climbing? Thank you
Your videos are superb ! And you are my most favorite mountaineer in the current era. we want you to stay alive ALWAYS !!
guys are climbing a 8000m mountain but they don t even know the exact altitude of camp 2, well prepared guys! congratulations!
"going from camp n to camp n+1 today for about 4 hours, it is really totally awesome here, so amazing, you can see mountain A and mountain B in the background, very cool mountains, super cool, it is very hot but it is all good, it is all good, cup of tea when reaching camp n+1, maybe earl grey? you can see a couple of folks above us and a couple of folks below us, it is really awesome, amazing, so cool..."
Thank you for what u do 😊❤ We get to explore from our beds . Grateful sir .
What is a E8 Climber, doing on a piece of piss mountain, like Makalu?? It's about time you tried a new route on Nanga Parbat!
Summer ascent of course, Winter...even better! that would be true intense climbing on the edge! "on-ward's and up-ward's"!
pure bliss. thank you thank you
You make it look so easy! Congratulations to you and your team.
Guys, that's barbaric to use a fish-eye camera in the mountains! Instead of the images from heavens we have to look at something distorted, almost perversed. Such a disappointment.... Anyway, you are heroes
It looks so dreamy up there. I imagine very emotional.
Often it is very emotional, yes!
absolutely incredible
What do you think Mr Gupta; are all 14 8000'ers in your future? Would be crazy cool!
Congrats ❤
