Dee.. Many a time you follow the popular lanes. Once in a while go take the road less travelled and you'll see many many scenes like this one. I think you miss a point here : why are there Vietnamese (hairdressers in this case, but could be anything else) in Malaysia? Not just Vietnamese - Bangladeshis, Filipinos, Indonesians, Thais, Indians... you name it. Because Malaysia is a magnet for employment of at least 7 million foreign workers, equivalent to 22% of Malaysia's population and nearly 50% of Malaysia's workforce. The number excludes further 500,000 or so expatriates and retirees from Western countries, Japan, South Korea...
As a malaysian i can concur this, due to covid a lot have lost their livelihood. These are the people who had lost their jobs, home, family, businesses and their typical way of life they've enjoyed prior to the pandemic. As malaysian it's our job to help out each other and do what we could to lessen our comrades hardship. When time is hard on everyone it's also time to act as human being and show a good heart.

I used to be involved in the charity works helping homeless people like giving them meals and getting jobs for them. The truth is most of them are drug addicts, foreigners and quite a number of Malaysians whom do not want work to earn a living because they get free food everyday.
Those are unlikely homeless but rather poor people. If you want to see real homeless peoples then you should travel to the USA (where I live) and see for yourself; people living in tents under bridges, by the side of freeways etc). The Covid pandemic and current turmoil has not spared any countries from hardships. It will take time for the world to heal back to pre-pandemic levels. My hats off to the Vietnamese people working in Malaysia for their contribution to society.
Some chose to be homeless. Some are not Malaysians but foreigners. The government do provide assistance and transit shelters. But some chose to hit the streets again. And you find homeless any where in the world. Nothing strange

Those ppl are foreigner @Dee Mwango , of course we do have poor ppl, but the poor mlysians are normally supported by Gov, NGOs and some few rich ppl. These ppl they came from neighbouring countries, to make a living, our immigration always do check up upon them ciz mostly they overstay like 3 to 4 years
Most of the time they are not poor. They do not want to work or their family did not keep them. But they are fed well by NGOs. The gov has temporary shelters for them but there are house rules which they do not like. So back on the street.
@@mohdzaki1089 i remembered the gov trained and helped them find jobs after/during lockdown but most went back on the streets. So they want the freedom staying on the streets. Problem is they throw rubbish everywhere after NGOs fed them food.

Hi Dee..the area you go is the settlement of foreigners looking for a livelihood in Malaysia such as Mango sellers may be from Nepal and many more from Bangladesh Vietnam Indonesia India Filipino Myanmar and various other countries to find jobs in Malaysia
I'm not poor I'm just in middle income. you should mention that. I have car I have house I have family. Just a small percentage is poor. most of them are middle income not too rich not too poor
Many of them are old people. The way i see it maybe they dont have children to take care of them or their children left them on the street. And in malaysia poverty still in range. Even if they sleep on the street they will not feel hungry. Also around those area there is a homeless shelter for them to stay.
Wonderful video dee of the Wonderful people from Vietnam donating their own money to help the homeless people in Malaysia and give them free haircuts the city officials worldwide must build affordable housing for the homeless people, in the United States lots of homeless people due to lack of affordable housing lot's of homeless people in California poor people needs homes not just rich people.
This happens all over the world. In South america ; in Canada; in the USA and I am sure many other countries. There are rich & poor every where you go. As you travel around you would see.
Poverty happens everywhere, even USA has millions of homeless people scattered all around their big cities. But one thing for sure, we Malaysian have many NGOs (Non-Government Organization) who help those homeless and beggers. As you can see, there are hair cutting service for free, food delivery not just in day time, but during night time as well. At Batu Road, there a public shelter for those homeless to have proper shower or place to sleep.
For your info there is a house for the homeless (transit house) near the Pahang roundabout not far from the Chow Kit monorail stn.) Those homeless either they taken drugs or they dont want to work. Works abundance here even foreigner came here to work. But still we have NGO who will take care of them. We dont want them to starve.
Dee, I doubt these are really homeless people or even Malaysians. I used to work in the vicinity from 2017 until Dec 2019 just before the start of Covid-19 pandemic. In 2018 when the ERCL (East Coast Rail Line) was cancelled by the govt of the day, there were many Chinese workers employed by the Chinese Construction Company who suddenly found themselves unemployed but refused to return to China. Hence, they found the pavement at the old Bangkok Bank in the vicinity and turned it into their home. The only way to find out if they’re Malaysians is to ask them in Malay. Malaysians regardless of their ethnicities should be able to at least converse in basic or bazaar Malay.
They are all Malaysian, everyday I commute to Pasar Seni I know they are homeless Malaysian people especially the Malaysian Chinese and Indians but seldom see Malay. This the city poor people, they are not Chinese PRC as the ECRL project is already continue with full steam.
@@aungmyintoo4635 I do believe about it because malay and others races had different background. Normally for malay they went to the city looking for job or business. When the companies winding up or plantations estates sold to develop for new townships, its make their life difficult. Especially those without proper savings.
For some of the viewers, the reason she was surprised about seeing homeless people is because of the way the KL city is developing. There are very few "ghettos" in KL and Malaysia has a plan to reduce homelessness and those shanty housing with low cost housing. Of course KL is an expensive city, however the train system allow people to travel from areas where housing is more affordable. There are people that choose to live on the street. That's okay for them. To each his own.
I've been in Switzerland....even in Switzerland you can find many homeless people 😂.... Amazingly ( unlike rich countries such the US or Japan ) poor countries in Africa , you can hardly find any homeless people ...even how poor they are , they still had a small house or a hut...😎
I think mostly its foreigner because they want to save their money to bring it back to their home.. they’re willing to spend the night outside and working in the morning .. i’m not sure now , but the situation that i said happened in 2018
But in this video they look more like a tourist in my eyes.. Now, Malaysia is getting worse especially in politic.. i really hope the poverty & homeless in Malaysia will be solve
All countries have wealthy, as well as very poor areas to be seen if we travel around.. If you go to Las Vegas and see all the huge Hotel/Casinos on the "STRIP", and visit certain wealthy neighborhoods we all will think that Las Vegas has all wealthy people. But if you drive northbound on the that same "STRIP" road into North Las Vegas you will see hundreds of people white, Black, Hispanics, etc., sleeping on the street sidewalks in tents in the cold winter desert climate and hot summers. That is out WEST, and if you go down SOUTH (Dixieland) to states like Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee, and my birth state of Louisiana one will see "Poverty" that looks worse than many so-call THIRD WORLD countries. We must remember that Kuala Lumpur is just one city in all of Malaysia so one should expect to see the wealthiest people living there among the majority impoverished people left behind..

Hardly any skinny beggar in Malaysia. They are well fed. Malaysia is a land of abundance and poverty is something mostly succumbed to it due to their own doing. Jobs are aplenty and most beggars are in the streets because they made more money than those hard working people who are doing hard labour jobs such as cleaning, building houses, rubbish collectors etc. People are generous and they’re profiteering from the kind gestures of Malaysians and tourists alike. Of course they are people who became poor due to circumstances beyond their control such as family background and education, covid but mostly are self inflicted. In Kuala Lumpur, there are many “transit houses” meant for destitute people, places for them to rehabilitate but they do not like the rules such self cleaning the place, curfew time etc. They prefer the freedom to be on streets with no commitment and abiding rules. NGOs have done a great job in feeding them together with government bodies but these arent really helping them in the long run.In fact, they are spoilt and becoming nuisance to the community with their laziness, unhygienic behaviour etc. We are grateful for the well being that God has bestowed us and let us pray that He continues to bless everyone of us with a good health and sound mind to work hard in providing foods and cloth to our family.
At 0:22 Lols the guys you talking is foreigners, all of them are foreigners Btw, because of that we don't want foreigners in our country, visitors is okey but not visitors who want to stay here, Anyway many store close due to quarantine because of the covid-19
Vietnames is good people, you must travel to their country and see their hospitality, eventhough their english not very good they are willing to help you.
Some people choose to be homeless in Kuala Lumpur, most of these people are poor but I don't think everybody are homeless. You would hardly meet any homeless people in small towns. The reason is life is less expensive in smaller towns and surprisingly there are also millionaire farmers in villages.
I thought it’s Vietnamese cultural activity, coz its really their culture to do haircuts on the streets. Not sure if China also does that, but so far in all Asean nations, the literal “Street haircut” is common to Vietnam only.
This is nothing compared to Los Angeles or San Francisco. Come to LA you can see so many homeless especially black ppl poop in the street. So sad for a rich country.

My heart goes out to the young, it’s more elders.

Great job!
Some people choose to be homeless in Kuala Lumpur, most of these people are poor but I don't think everybody are homeless. You would hardly meet any homeless people in small towns. The reason is life is less expensive in smaller towns and surprisingly there are also millionaire farmers in villages.
Dee you Enjoy big time Good Luckkkkkk

I thought it’s Vietnamese cultural activity, coz its really their culture to do haircuts on the streets. Not sure if China also does that, but so far in all Asean nations, the literal “Street haircut” is common to Vietnam only.
