Grit is super important to human beings living life. As someone who has little to no grit, its something i hope to develop while skating and then use it in other aspects. Great vid!
I’ve had several skate meet ups with people who previously only knew me through my IG posts. They seemed very surprised at my approach to my sessions. When I’m skating, I’m usually trying to improve. Maybe it’s because they’re “has beens” while I’m a “never was/never will be”. IDK 🤷♂️. While I appreciate the social aspect of skating, I really want to make the most of the time I have while I still can ✌️
Aren't you a Going To Be? I'm a beginner and consider myself a Doing It'er. Not that I talk to anyone about it. Anyway, we have Grit! Thanks @SarahParkMatott Grit Motivator!
@@nicolanapoli1 I’m better now than when I quit at 14. But at 44 (45 next month), I’m realistic about what I can hope to accomplish. Still room for improvement 👍👍
Thank you for this video. It completely resonates with my skateboarding journey/experience. Progression and regression. At 49, and starting at 45, it’s grit that gets me through. I’m just glad to hear someone express similar feelings about the pursuit of tricks. I was beginning to think I was crazy for being so committed to skating. Keep on gritting!!
Important video!!! I'm going to show this to my dear friend -- we started skating around the same time, but I've been putting in hours and hours each week (on and off the board) while she comes around once or twice a week. She's been feeling so defeated about "unlearning" things and her body refusing to commit on things she's managed previously. It's the same for everyone, but it really comes down to grit, like you said. Funny thing, I never considered myself gritty. Perseverance has always been hard. But when it comes to skating, it's a whole different story, and I can see it affect other areas of my life. I don't remember where I read this (it might have been from you or your discord), but, a skateboarder isn't someone who skates - it's someone who can't stop skateboarding. That's the gist of it. Disregard ideas about progress, and just show up!! And eventually you get that make that puts you over the moon 😋
aw, I'm sorry your friend has been feeling defeated. That's such a tough situation. The mountain we need to get over early in skating or with new tricks can be so so tall. And you're totally right. You just need to show up. Over and over again until. Hope she can feel motivated and go out to enjoy a tough session as a tough one, and a good one as a good one 💪
i saw a video on youtube, i think it was a pressure flip trick tip video with koston. and he described a pressure flip like stepping on a bar of soap, it sounds weird but totally makes sense.
Pressure flips are my shit, korea saved my life, was a lame-ass soldier, stayed there for 4 years. Skateboarding is so humbling but worth the effort, thankyou for pointing that out. Your pressure flips look dope, btw
I had that exact issue for not being able to land them again I learned crooks last Friday and when Monday came around I couldn't land them but then this Friday tried them again and I landed tonnes 😂😂😂
great to see it - love the breakdown - I'm doing the same with my Tre flp this year. Love the determination!!! The board scraping the ground part made me realize what I'm not doing enough of. Thanks!!!
yes! The more I do this pressure flip...I wonder if it might translate to 360 flips later with some tweaking, which is always exciting! Another path to wander down haha Good luck with your 360 flips! Wishing you good flips.
You used an important word regarding tricks …FEEL. A lot of videos or people can tell you how a trick is done but they won’t tell you how it’s supposed to feel. Just got started learning kickflips and no one tells you that the flick should feel like you’re sliding your toenails on the board and from there it should feel like your ankle unrolls itself without much effort.
I can do the no comply version. First time I tried it, I think it was a fakie no comply pressure flip body varial and I just landed it easy. But it felt like a cool trick. Goob job by the way.
This is a great video. Took me 7 months to land that fakie bigspin and just this Sunday (right before surgery) i spent over two hours trying and finally got feeble stalls and axle stalls on my ramp which has also taken me months. Now to try and figure out the no comply pressure flip 😂
Glad I watched this. I’ve been battling rock fakie for awhile now … just can’t keep that foot on. Watched all the videos but I guess it’s just gonna be time on the ramp and a few more bruises 😅
@@SarahParkMatott no doubt! You don’t happen to know of any freestyle competitions in the NE US, do you? The only things I could find state side were a yearly comp in the PNW and one that may or may not be happening in Florida. I do really well with deadlines. If I have a goal with a clear end date I will make quick progress. It gets me in a mindset where it’s just my job.
@@SarahParkMatott okay, that is definitely convenient to my abode in Massachusetts. Do they have a website or anything? Just search ‘’flat attack Ithaca’’?
Congrats on the pressure flip Sarah ! I still haven't landed one , my younger brother learned them and I just didn't pursue them long enough , I would like to see you do one rolling, I wonder how much different the process is ?
I would love to get to that level soon! I imagine I'll give it a solid stationary try/land and then a rolling try or two! I tend to randomly switch back and forth. Get the stationary one to remind my feet what to do, then add the rolling element 💪 that's how I worked up to rolling kickflips.
Idk if you know your Myers-Briggs, but are you an INTJ? The way you talk about and experience your skating comes from a really refreshing angle that I haven't really heard before. For example, siting the evidence of improvement. I'm going to start thinking about that more.
I actually do! My partner is very into Myers-Briggs. I am an ISFJ 😃 I might go back and re-read some of the details. I think the myers-briggs categories are interesting. I do love looking for clues and figuring out skate puzzles..I wonder if there's a connection haha
@@SarahParkMatott Oh okay, yeah for sure! From what a lot of skaters will say is just, "Don't think about it, just do it." But you do a lot of thinking and studying, and you're doing all these tricks, so clearly there are other ways. 😂
Thing about this trick is you choose the harder version of it to go for first lol the other way is where u dig your foot into the ground and don’t really pop and it’ll flip faster it’s jus uncomfortable to get in the position for that way
I think my biggest thing is i dont commit, i think most people can do most tricks on a skatboard if they just COMMIT! Others have said dont think obout and do it, sounds a bit oxymoronic
Grit and determination. Gritermination 😎😅
Practice, practice, practice. Passion is the fuel for the grit.
who ever said pressure flips weren't cool lol?😇😆 great vid💯💯🤟✌

@@SarahParkMatott when i do hardflips, they are practically frontside pressure flips
