Dude I just want to say thanks for this. I picked an old Magnavox stereo console with built-in record player up and couldn't understand what was going on with it. This video showed me exactly how to operate the thing and it works like a champ!

Collaro changers tend to have size detection, so that would determine whether auto-shutoff triggers or not

Same man. I couldn't figure out why a) it wouldn't auto play and b)auto shut off 🤣

Thank you! Got an old BSR turntable that was my grandparents'. For the life of me I couldn't figure out how the hell the changer function works. Even more frustrating because I had to take it apart and re-oil, so it was impossible to tell if it was working correctly haha

Whenever i do the auto function, the tone arm goes to about the end of the record, not the start

my needle is pressing way too hard. it has 2 options. first one doesnt make contact with record, and 2nd is way too much. Any tips? thanks

Sounds like you have a player that can play 78s as they use a different needle. Make sure your needle is in LP mode for a standard record. Then you may need to adjust the tracking to lighten the pressure. Some tonearms have a spring that adjusts the tension for more or less tracking. Really great vid- my changer is broke i think (1960s Garrard player) but this helped me know what the upper arm does, what "Auto" does. Thanks.

I have a question what is that thing on the bottom right used for?

    • @ct1660

Adapter for big-hole 7” records (most 7” 45rpm records have the large hole)

Help!! Is there any way to NOT use the automatic player? Is there a way to get the record onto the table without having it drop? I am trying to prevent spindle marks on a nice LP!

    • @ct1660
      @ct1660  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Virtually all LPs have a raised lip which is intended to protect the grooves when played on a record changer.
Many BSR turntables did offer a single play spindle.

@@ct1660 Sadly my 60s Magnavox cabinet player doesn't have a different spindle with it. I noticed that the changer is already causing damage on the label near the spindle hole. In the manual it gives instructions for manual play, but nothing more to it besides "Place record on turntable". Nothing about how to get it on without using the auto feature.

Thank you. I just felt like a total dumbass trying to get this Sears 8-track/record player to play a record.

I have a record player with this same auto changer, but when I do use it the needle would fall before the record itself. Is there something I can do to fix this? AM I doing something wrong?

Can you actually remove the stacking spindle and use it as a regular record player?

  • @1Techoner1

I wanted to watch this video because I forgot how to properly use one. I had a similar player when I was 12 and now I'm 44. The cassettes, cd's, bluetooth , and all the new technology to play music has pushed me into forgetting how to use a record player.
