Just yesterday I had the same discussion with my friend, mostly about Hearthstone and World of Warcraft and the only thing that we both agreed upon is that the whole concept of these games being perceived as "good" are : - The ties that bind them to the Warcraft III and vanilla WoW - The community we once were part of - Nostalgia I know this is only 2 guys' take on the topic, we do not represent the community at large, but we tried to keep subjective thinking out of the equation and without these concepts I think a lot of people would finally see these games for the empty shell they are.

Because one of those cinematics takes about a year to make from script, to storyboarding, to voice acting, to rough animation, to full animation, to release. This probably just takes a month or two for the set pieces. The filming is done in a couple of days, and the post production a couple of weeks give or take.
