Considering I didn't watch Hannah Montana and was introduced to Earle in Kickin It, where he played an actual adult, looking up his HM scenes after I found out he was in it, he always looked out of place to me being Billy Ray Cyrus' teenage son.

I think it was random but doing it with 10 being the youngest and 1 being the oldest would have made the most sense with the ranking system.

A lot of the younger characters are teens or children in the books. Makes it a bit weird when their stories are the same for TV, since some things don't fit as well for a seemingly 25yr old compared to a 15yr old.

First few seasons yeah, main character nudity has gone down a lot recently.
It's not that "everyone dies", it's that no character is actually safe. Spoilers: their main character in season one, who you think is gonna carry the whole show for several years, is executed at the end of said season (which was a shock to viewers like me who weren't familiar with the books). Like Walking Dead, GoT has no qualms about killing off major characters, regardless of likability or age.
Its not easy to understand like so many other shows so its ok

The vast majority of the characters in Game of Thrones are aged up from the books. Ned and Robert are in their 30s in the first book but are in their 40s in season one. Robb Stark and Jon snow are 14 in the first book but are a bit older in the show.

True, but that is by Westerosi custom. In Westeros, you start counting the age not from the day they were born, but from the person's Naming Day, which, due to high infant mortality, doesn't take place for about two years. Whenever anyone gives their age in the books, add two years, and that's how old the actor playing them should look.

lol. Though to be fair, most of the post-Zordon Era seasons' Rangers are 20-somethings with jobs. Ninja Storm, Dino Thunder and Megaforce are the only ones that clearly go back to having high schoolers as Rangers.

Main reason is child labor laws prevent any child/young teen from working long hours. So rather than go through all that hassle they use youthful looking adults.

Part of the reason that these actors who are so much older than their characters. Also, hiring a mature but young looking actor means that their looks won't change as dramatically as an actual teenagers, and they have fewer work restrictions, and schooling commitments (even if you studying on the set and never see the inside of an actual high school, that's still time not working on your lines, etc.).

Totally thought Beverly Hills 90210's Gabrielle would be #1. Lets Face it, most actors in that show were older than high school teens. However, she was the oldest. She is now 55. Another honorable mention is Sabrina Le Beauf, who played eldest daughter, Sondra Huxtable on "The Cosby Show". When she first appeared on the show, the character was supposed to be 18 or 19 years old, but in real life, Sabrina was actually 26 years old. If fact, Sabrina is actually 10 years younger than her TV mom, Phylicia Rashad.

I wanna see them cast teenagers as teenagers, everyone will flip out because teenagers actually look like kids.
Teenagers see themselves as all grown up, so they put grown ups in teen roles to appeal to that delusion. They also make teenagers act like adult and make adult decisions, once again to appeal to teenagers view of themselves instead of the reality.
Watch Scream the TV series. It's not all that good, but the cast (although all in their 20's) looks convincingly young.

Then when I tried to ask a girl out, they would Freak out that an older guy was asking them out. I had to show my DL to them after turning 16 just to prove I was the same age. They thought it was Fake.
Now that I am 42, Women my age still think I am older than them and refuse to go out with me. The Couple that did, ended up Cheating on me, so I ended it. I don't put up with Cheaters.

You want a character to look the same for years to run the show, but teens changes too quickly, so its better to hire a adult who doesn't age much.
Child work laws prevent young actors from working long hours, hence why most studios hire adults so they don't have to deal with that
They always want older actors to play younger, primarily due to child labor laws and so they don't have to deal with stage parents.
Consider also that an actor in their 20s may more accurately and more dependably portray teenage life for the camera than an actual teenager who lacks the foresight to fit it all into the whole plot.

Actually, all older movies hired older actors, and music stars used to start being famous when they were in their mid-20's. This was the rule until the 2000's, a period in which extremely young pop stars and protagonists who are as young as possible became the rule. If you ask me, I prefer the old movies and music, because the actors and musicians/singers do better jobs, because they're more experienced. And because you don't have 15 year olds dictating fashion trends or what the industry tendencies should be to fans or other artists in their 20's, 30's and 40's. I believe today's world's obsession with little kids is a sick thing.
