As a Russian this is extremely painful to watch. So many close semifinal/final losses. Disappointed that 2011 final wasn’t even in this top, that’s probably the most emotional game for me that I’ve ever seen.
Dude thank you yet again for sharing the coverage?!!! Here in England we’ve have nothing?!! Your full games nd in-depth recaps are a life saver and day killer
What!? Sweden vs Russia that took 7 periods to decide a winner 10th! It's the most dramatic and nerv wracking final ever! Both teams played incredible from start to finish with both goalies putting up legendary performances not allowing a goal in over 6 periods until Zibanejad finally had enough. I remember the game starting like 2-3 am night time where I live and was over at around 6 am in the morning. Screaming like I mf and woke up the whole building then went straight to bed xD Never had so many butterflies in my stomach and for that long. It was a huge moment for them as it was their first gold medal in like 30+ years I think. Craziest match I've watched in my life. You could just tell less than midway through it was gonna be a 1 goal game, the question was just how long it will take and that was pretty much up to the goalies to decide as both sides players didn't let the goalies breathe much the whole game and they gave the crowd a dozen of candidates for the save of the tournament. I remember seeing a lot of comments saying it was the best wjc final game ever too.
Man how the hell the 2011 final could have been forgotten … ? This was one of the craziest final ever. Also the 2010 final with the 6-5 OT win from the US over Canada… Both had to be at least in the top 5.
#8 should be #1. The 1989 Soviet team had the most powerful trio to date: Bure (3rd in points), Fedorov (6th in points), & Mogilny (5th in points). Bure holder the record of 27 goals during his World Junior stint and has yet to be broken. He was also the Star of the 1989 tournament at 17 years of age.
You know NHL network is an American channel when the #1 World Junior moment is the John Carlson goal. That's behind the Eberle goal or the Kapanen goal any day lol
@@stwinkkzz40 only Canadians even try to do that. They always try to run up the score against the weakest countries. I'm not saying that Forsberg's record isn't impressive, because it is. I'm just saying that I value gold far more than individual points
42 points in 14 games tho, 31 points in 7games as he played his second (and last)tournament.. And it's just top 12.. Since 2013 the US has won 3 golds and Canada has won 3. I'd say the US is developing some great talent and pretty soon Canada will need to keep up unfortunately.
Second rate? Yeah, that's why USA has beat canada the last 4 times they've faced each other in the Gold Medal game, right? Get bent. Not to mention the 5-1 USA victory over canada in the 2013 semis before going on to beat Sweden for Gold.
That is not number 1. Number 1 has to be 2011 when Russia came back down 3-0 in the third against Canada to win the gold 5 - 3. The biggest comeback in WJC history.
The 2016 Kapanen goal is far beyond the Ristolainen goal in 2014 though. For me as a Finnish person, the 2016 Kapanen goal is the best with the 2019 quarterfinals against Canada as a second. 2014 gold? not even close.

The road to gold at WJC 2011 is the best thing that has ever happened to hockey. The matches with Finland and Sweden were filled with incredible tension and comebacks ended, and the final with Canada is the icing on the cake.
