Can’t wait for spring to go out on my first long ride. Planning a couple of rides to some 3 wheel events. I’ll be 59 this year and just got my F3 in July. So happy I did enjoying the wind therapy.
Mental awareness is a huge one I think! We really have to be alert and thinking through things and think ahead and be on the lookout for things that could go wrong!
thanks CoachBob. Good to hear from you and see that your region has come through the recent storms. We are looking forward to getting out in the spring. We have much snow yet but I enjoy even the time on the tractor pushing snow. We are in our late seventies and are excited to get out riding the mountain roads, the prairies and highways between British Columbia and Alberta. always great to meet people along the way.
Amen Coach Bob, in large part due to your videos , shortly after my eighty sixth birthday this last summer I bought a new old 2023 Spyder RTL. I totally have no regrets. Prior to the purchase I did take the online motorcycle safety course and the Can-Am sponsored three wheel hands on course here in Pensacola. ( I recommend these courses ). I was initially afraid that I might not be able to buy the Spyder because I had extreme difficulty mounting and dismounting the Spyder , I had become very stiff. A couple of weeks of stretching has eased the problem...getting on and off is no longer a problem. I have found a very twisty road going down to the Perdido river and have used this road as a vehicle to sharpen my skills in cornering and control. Since buying the Spyder I have been averaging about 700 miles per month. I am trying to build my stamina , I currently need to take a break about every hour or my hip muscles will start cramping. (Getting old is hell ). I found your comments to be spot on!
Number 4. I had been retired three years before I got my Spyder and that pressure sure was building up; what am I doing now? And when I sat on that Spyder at the driving course, it pressed that pressure release button. And that brought on number 5, that sense of freedom. Now, when I ride Coach, I feel alive!
Us poor Canadians that have couple months of snow and ice before our riding begins. I tell all my Spyder rider buddies to watch your channel. I enjoy our Spyder with my wife so much. I also yell inside my helmet thanking god that I am healthy enough to do this. Ride safe
So excited for John and Miriam's adventure this year! You know while we're talking about adventure, an adventure doesn't have to be a long, long ride. It can be a short ride but it's still an adventure!
We have been taught that the Man upstairs will not test us beyond our abilites, but he surely puts so much more trust in you Coach Bob, than most others could handle. Keeping you, your family, and especially Ba-Ba in my prayers 🙏🙏🙏
Number 5 takes me back to growing up in NYC. I didn't have a bike, but I explored the city by walking and taking mass transit everywhere. On my Spyder, I get that feeling of exploration again, and I love it!
When we used to ride Harley shovelheads one would inevitably break down its just the way it was.My brother would always say “WELL ATLEAST WE LOOK COOL” stay safe out there coach.
Coach, great advice as usual and good Sunday viewing. I was also loving the trees hanging over the road and the patch work of snow dotted around. Nature and seasons at their best.
Definitely keeps you engaged and heads up for sure. Having a goal for the ride or an adventure to get to really makes the ride even more exciting. Lucky in Florida we can ride most year round and have umpteen places to ride to for food ,sport, or adventure Gob bless your family an hope to see you at bike week.
What ??? 😳 ... snow in Tallahassee. I wonder if children down there have ever experienced the joy and laughter of tobaganning down a hill, and running back up the hill to do it again, and again, and again and again... 😃😊☺️
The kids were sliding on anything they could find and sliding and “ sledding “ through front yards and the little bit of hills that we have. I thoroughly enjoyed the snow experience and savored any outside moment that I had! 😎
With the stress of having my wife in memory care and snow and temps near or below zero at times, I can't wait for a 45 or 50° day. The RTL has new shoes and is ready to go. I agree, a ride even a short one has always been the best therapy for me. I'm 77, blessed with good health and don't feel my age. It's only a number. Plan on riding a lot more years. Bought a Himilayan to piddle around on back roads and looking for a good used RE 650INT to add to my stable. And before I'm gone, I hope to shake your hand and thank you for your uplifting videos. Until then, thanks.
Hey coach, great video as usual, thinking about what you’ve said yes it does make us happy every time we go for a ride & come back with a huge smile on our faces! Ride safe with the white stuff there! Can’t wait for the spring to arrive as long as my up & coming leg surgery gets done first. Regards Stephen Alberta Canada.
Big ole 👍 Great video Coach Bob I love to ryde with my wife as passenger and with other Spyder Ryders. Our group has older and younger people than me. Ryde safe and God Bless
It was to cold for me to ride last week as I don't have the proper gear, who would've thunk I would need cold weather gear in south Florida. I am chomping at the bit to get out. I get very cranky when I don't ride cranky ling a hungry baby at 2am. I also need to get back up to Maine /New Hampshire this year family not getting any younger or healthier.
I agree 100% and i miss it , winter in Canada is to long ........ I am aging backward since i am riding again. my new moto is have an adventure not a destination.....Great topic and video on ice.....Alain & Yellow
We were in Florida last week and got in on the cold weather, just south of the snow. But it was still warmer than NW Iowa, where temps were well below zero .
All very good points Coach! Another point I have noticed…installing your own accessories has helps this old guys dexterity! I was a slug sitting in the Lazy boy so much that I had trouble getting down on the floor! After working on the bike a bit, that was much easier! All your other points were spot on! Love getting out!, meeting people!, and enjoying seeing Gods creation in this wonderful country enjoying the hot and cold! Ride safe! Ice will get ya!! Your all in our 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽😎😎😎
When it's below zero and there's a ton of snow outside, I'm actually very comfortable in my La-Z Boy chair 😂👍

P.S. I never come back angry or upset after I ride my Spyder. That's therapy for you!

Social connections are so important as we get older!
It is very therapeutic! Being outside is so good for our souls!

I couldn’t agree more with everything you mention. Definitely the fountain of youth.

Even just going to the corner store on my Spyder is an adventure 🙂!
Thanks Coach Bob! I knew I was doing something right when I bought the RT! See you on the road real soon…..
