Lynns instruments are waaaay beyond amazjng. I played a 000 size acoustic guitar he made this summer. Ive owned dozens of martin 000s and Oms many prewar. His guitar was tonally on a par with any and played better than most. I owned a vintage gtr shop for 20 yrs so I dont make irrelevant comparisons.
Hi sir, I’m just getting started making. Could you say anything about when you’ve graduated down to what someone may say,” is finished,” but in your mind is not yet. How do you go that last small amount ? Do you tap for a tone, do you twist for a flexure? Since you don’t have the luxury of the thing being all glued together yet, once it is, do you sand out in the channels for a final tone? Thanks Dee
Imo the guitars he makes are worth every bit of money they go for I have played all the boutique and big name brands and none compare to this guys work I strongly suggest everyone checkout Carl Miners demo of one
Every couple of decades, a new small bench builder comes along, and he catches fire. Gilchrist in the 70’s and 80’s or thereabouts, then Lynn D comes along, and there is a guy in Goodlettsville by the name of McClanahan. I have a really solid 2006 Eastman, that sounds great, but when you hold a Dude, or Gilchrist, it’s like holding balsa, it’s so light and fragile to the touch. But pound for pound, they produces more volume than just about anything.

It’s timeless, very similar to the violin. You can’t improve on perfection.

Best mandolin I’ve ever played was a Dudenbostel.
And it was right next to a Gibson 1924 Lloyd Loar.
I preferred the tone and feel of the Dudenbostel.
