He's rationalizing lol, everyone received the Voice of Mayhem well and more than well, you don't have to know what makes a good anthem good, only that an anticlimax ruins it all no matter what's around. If he wanted to fit the fight scene better with a simpler melody, just change notes tone like at 5:07 to convey an emotion and that can do, but not less.
