The parents weren’t smart enough. If only they’d used the advantage that Steve was abusing Claire they wouldn’t have even had to pay him the money back. The fact he laid his hands on her and she even lost her pregnancy cause of it is enough to land him in jail.😢

To be fair, this tends to happen in places where people are illiterate and extremely impoverished and the parents don't have much of a choice by way of survival. The more educated and/or employed or well off you are, the more you have by way of options in partners to marry haha. I speak as someone who's in a loving relationship for four years now who treats me with nothing but respect and love. Hope this helps.😄

Maybe they are not problematic parent, they actually feel guilt for forcing their daughter to marry
