That's the rumor I heard. It would make sense, waiting for all the remaining cases they probably have to be able to sell at high prices until they announce they have it.
1000% some breaker has it and still wants top dollar for all their inventory so itll conveniently come out after they and their breaker friends sell out their stuff
I would guess Skenes is going to appear in a retail mega box from a bigger box store. We know it's a redemption card and once it's pulled, that's the end of the demand. That's best way they can control the timing of the card hit...along with having the biggest card come out in retail format, that gives a blueprint that the biggest hits can happen in retail to the everyday person which will drive retail demand and brand exposure in the future. This will also allow Topps to rightfully adjust the MSRP of the retail product to be closer inline with the aftermarket and LCS prices. The market is there for nearly a 50-100% raise in MSRP. We are living in a live beta pricing test for future chases. Having that card go to a breaker is limited exposure outside of the niche card world. The money is in the general retail gambler-i mean retail buyer...not in breakers who are paid/given discounted cases or LCS in strip malls.
Any and/or all of the 'big 3' can be sitting on boxes/cases. Topps/Fanatics could still have pallets of it still in warehouse(s). Why not? They got rid of the distributors who used to do the exact same thing, waiting for prices to rise, then offering a little more here and there. Hell, it wouldn't surprise me if they know exactly were each one of those cards is at. Theory? Reality?
Its because they're letting people order 20 cases. If someone can order 50 cases of blasters. And using them to put them in their subscription boxes those are the people to look at. There's a chain of command and choose who can buy more than others and we get what's left over.
I have 11 megas that I have been sitting on for a couple of weeks. I have opened as many since they dropped and have had mixed results. I feel you on not wanting to be disappointed. I am almost positive there are no debuts in megas!
In the past two months I was only able to find two blasters and two megas from Walmarts or Targets I go to. I have NEVER seen Topps Chrome this scarce.
If you had the resources and the connections (and lack of scruples), buying bulk, CT scanning and reselling the dud boxes while holding back the hb's to manipulate the market might be a highly profitable venture. Unfortunately if I as a strict outside watcher can imagine that scenario other more involved people most definitely have imagined it if not things more devious. Assuming CT scanning is as accessible and effective as it appears to be.
I agree with that too. Some of us just aren't going to blab that they just pulled a huge card worth thousands of thousands of dollars. They just know that it's a guaranteed keeper. They probably live in a rundown place and selling that one card isn't going to get them a new home or what. And i opened some megas. Not worth $100 since around 3 out of 4 boxes don't have anything great
Check Lids. I picked up a hobby box from my local store and the manager said they can only put out 2 at a time due to policy. They are a Fanatics distributor and were allotted Hobby boxes. They don’t show inventory on their website though. They also still sell them at retail pricing. I picked up a box just before Christmas for $199 when they were still selling at Blowout, etc for $450.
They’re basing their percentages on the cards that have been ripped online and reported or documented. But there are still those individual/private folks that open packs and collect for themselves who: may not be aware what they have; sitting in some kids binder next to some Pokémon cards or still wrapped under a Christmas tree somewhere
Lawyer could make a case of that, so say you pulled skenes 2 months ago, you are a big breaker kept it secret in order to sell your stock at inflated rates, letting people think they had a chances at that skenes. As a business you would possibly be committing fraud, this is gambling and selling your stock, while letting people believe they have the chance is the fraud part. Now proving you pulled it two months ago, and your plan was to hold off saying it to sell your stock, is a whole different beast!
@@chasejackson7248 I got 4 kids and am trying to find a time where I don't have to share this one with them. Need to distract them with a couple of Update Hanger boxes or something.
I am actually surprised that this much has surfaced. There are going to be many collectors saving unsealed wax and also some people could've pull these and just kept them or sold them in person.
I have 2 hobby boxes that I bought back around black Friday for around 300. Now that I'm finally getting my TH-cam channel going I will be recording the rip soon. I went online to see if I could get more. Saw the price and said never mind.
The conspiracy I’ve heard, is the remaining debut patches are likely in retail. Two reasons: (1) Topps largest distribution / growth opportunities are in retail, not hobby - so what a great story about someone buying a mega box at GameStop and pulling a huge debut patches; and (2) The consumption of the higher produced retail boxes is generally slower, allowing for the chase to extend several months.
I don't think this is a real problem. Many of my smaller LCS have these still, many people are hoarding them, and a lot of breakers still have cases. This seems like creating a problem out of nothing

I've never seen it in retail or in my 2 locals LCSs. It's ridiculous. I'd just like to open a mega box but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. They've made this product impossible to obtain for everyday collectors. Only about the almighty dollar now. It's pathetic.

My Walmart is stacked with cards but nothing new the newest box is still from like last year. Used to always get new boxes when they first came out. They need to just put them on clearance or something and get the new boxes in there
My Walmart is never stacked with cards and we only get restocks about once a month. They barely carry Topps products except for 2023 Update. I see posts of people going to Walmarts around the country and getting tons of variety. I get absolutely nothing. I asked them once when they didn't restock for almost 2 months and all they could say was "we don't know because someone else does it." Like, I know that. But you don't have contact with them and they just show up without letting you know? It makes being a collector impossible. Especially because the LCS jacks up prices for everything to almost double MSRP. I knew I would never open a box of Chrome Update. I'm not rich enough to.
