  • In this video I finish what I started in the last one. The second load of calves gets loaded into the stock trailer and off to the auction and of course, we do some farm chores along the way. Cows, tractors, trucks and even a rogue horse at the winter pasture- all this and more in today’s video!

Thanks for taking us on the “round up”! You accomplished a lot…amidst a sea of mud! There is a song… “ They say it never rains in … southern California… but when it rains it pours! Sure glad you took your time and didn’t slip. You take good care of your livestock and your machinery too. You think of everything, connections, latches, traffic etc. Your new feeder system is working out well! I am really impressed at how you manage to keep your lovely yellow Labrador, Calli, so clean amidst all that mud 🦮She is so sweet when she gives the cattle a doggie kiss, 😘 and of course you get one too! Stay well and safe, dry and cozy! Happy New Year Greetings from Ontario, Canada🇨🇦

Your hay feeders are nice. What we do out here, same with fence row feeders is dig out the manure area around them and bring in some gravel to build up a nice solid base to stand on. It will keep them from standing in the muck as much while they eat. Smart putting that metal behind the bale too to keep the loose hay in. We put the gravel along both sides of the feed row so that the tractor and wagon also run on hard ground.
We don’t get a ton of rain here(KS) but when we do it’s nice to give them some firm ground to stand on.

Feel sad for the cows to stand in 2+ feet of cold mud, that is almost touching their udder. You should consider a concrete-floored barn for them.

I’ll say it again…love that winter pasture🤓. Prices were pretty good last week in Orland, sure hope they held at Galt!! Cali’s attitude of the cows has totally changed..that first meeting was oh sh** and now it is all hugs and kisses. One bad thing about the rain as it equals mud season, but, mud season also means grass growing season..gotta take the bad with the good. You must have had another idea for shooting the loading as I didn’t see anything wrong. Love your videos. Stay safe and well.

Never thought winter time in California was so wet! You need some sand for that driveway around the calves!😂 A two wheel drive tractor may not cut it if it gets any wetter. No, temperature in the 40° F range doesn’t qualify as tee shirt weather, but at least you don’t have to layer your clothing or wear the heavy winter coat! Hope the sale goes well for you and your family!🙏🤞🤞
