I just bought my M3 too in black, how'd you do that with the watch?

It can be used with bmw connected service. 1st : you need to register tour iphone as a master key then your m will ask you to add the key to your watch too.

My understanding is that you can't start the car with it alone though, is that right?

I can start and drive with digital key.
If you install digital key to your iphone wallet, you can open and close the door and ignite the car then when you put your phone on wireless charger the phone will be your key.

@@headlessguitaristrafael Yes, but not the Watch... I want to know if I can drive the car, lock it - go for a swim in the ocean - and return to unlock & drive the car with the Apple Watch (ie. No key, no iPhone, no credit card key).

@@nitramluap oh I see. You can use digital card key together.
In my case, i put my digital card key on wireless charger always.
      And lock/unlock with apple watch.
Then i can go somewhere without phone or key but i can lock, unlock and drive the car wearing watch only.

@@headlessguitaristrafael OK, thanks, that's not an ideal workaround. If someone were to break into the car, they'd just be able to drive away! I guess the 'Digital Key Plus' is really the proper 'Digital Key' service and annoyingly only the BMW iX has it, using the UWB radios. No need to touch the Watch/Phone near the door - they just unlock on approach - and you don't have to have them in the tray to start the vehicle, as it should be. It seems like this intermediate 'digital key' isn't very well thought out.

I know it. And it is available with id8.
      G80/82s have id7.
      Different communication protocol.
Actually, if one takes his phone, then it does not so problematic.

Yes I would like that if my car allow it but it won’t.
