We had something like this during Season of Opulence, there was a space you could load into that you could spawn enemies on a podium that could be killed. Granted there were no bosses.
Don't cast your Rift before using Needlestorm. You want those perched Threadlings to be launched by your super not your class ability, so that they deal super damage.
wrong. threadlings have different values based on what they are spawned from and perching threadlings will ALWAYS turn them into the grenade version of them. even if you have extra threadlings from a super go and perch they will instantly transform into grenade threadlings.
Spectral suffers the same issue lament does. On client side, you’re pushing the enemy away from you, but on server side, they are standing still. What happens is you move forward with the client sided enemy and the game updates their position, making them teleport behind you where they were originally standing.
Just a heads up for those who aren’t convinced longer super aren’t a viable trade-off for instant supers like T-Crash/ BB; you can run burst damage weapons like Parasite or support weapons like Gjally to give your teammates Wolfpack Rounds in tandem with your super and you will contribute a good amount to your dps. Reversing this, you can run Anarchy to do over-time dps while you use your long super to damage.

True that not all supers should be identical in damage but when you have the top super doing about 5x more that's an insane diffence especially if your soloing hard content and why certain builds end up being the ones most use. Celestial is not really worth using, for a very simple reason. Star-Eaters do way more damage than it with the same exact super, and doesn't take away ALL of the damage if you miss one shot. And shooting 3 marksman shots is still pretty quick.

winterbite as a weapon also sucks ass unless the boss literally stands still like templar its near impossible to hit any boss that moves and to make things worse the exotic not only is worse than synthos but it also makes winterbite lose melee damage also even if you hit all projectiles the damage is lower than a rocket
I'd like to see Winter's Wrath (warlock stasis super) with a different source of freeze tested. spam stasis turrets around the boss (you can get many off if you use Osmiomancy gloves before swapping to Ballidorse), or have hunter stasis super with you. then just spam the shattering shockwave ability (it doesn't even use energy)

Just wanted to say thanks to the editor for adding the yellow border around the latest damage value. That was something that always threw me off during previous number videos.
It WAS good on release, but Bungie decided that the exotic that makes blocking do "massively increased damage" should only hit about as hard as a paper straw.
at minute 17 u show goldengun with the celestial nighthawk icon next to the damage number even though u clearly shot 3 times what makes no sence! however, i still enjoy your content since D1! mad love and respect by bruva 🔥🔥🔥
The problem about Spectral Blades in PvE is not just the low damage. It’s also the extra duration drain when you’re not invisible. The supers lasts 14s (assuming you don’t attack anything) when you’re not invisible. This means that it can’t even ad clear. Bungie needs to buff the attack damage through the roof and make it fit the assassin role better. The super should be a boss killer/Champion slayer. A change I had in mind would be like this: -Light attacks mark the enemy. -Heavy attacks against marked enemies do significantly more damage (I’m talking about instantly wiping master level champions). This would give it a unique role for ad clear that fits with it’s assassin playstyle. Go invisible, find high priority targets like champions, instantly take them out, while going back into stealth. Doing light + heavy combo would also be good for Boss damage.
that idea sounds really cool actually. Though I'd hope with Gwisin Vest you'd be able to ad clear 'okay' as well. (though part of that requires the attacks to actually hit consistently, which they still don't atm)
Thanks for putting in the work! I'm always curious about the data, especially when Bungie has just made changes. It's too bad they don't have an area like Warframe's Simulacrum. That was always nice to have for science purposes.
For nova warp, if you throw a vortex granade after charging it with chaos accelerant (use contraverse hold to take less damage while charging) and have echo of undermining "your void grenades weaken targets" you can do 100k damage per nova warp pulse and thats about 400-500k damage as long as they are weakened from the granade, make sure to charge your granade before using your super to maximize damage
@@brusselseastside3546 If you press shatter immediately following the first blast of ice, you save a substantial amount of super energy because the second shot of ice never fires. Allowing you to gain more total damage per super.

That thunderous FoH was scuffed af. No way it's just an extra 3k. Also I truly believe after this season they're going to use the numbers to make it worth using your arc supers. They will probably put in a clause within all arc supers saying if amped you do more damage, without just buffing it completely making it a little more complicated for higher numbers would be cool to see.😊
Tbh that should've been a base part of the warlock's kit. Half of their kit is all about being improved by being amplified, and half of it didn't touch subclass verbs at all until this patch.
Yeah it definitely is. Just did my own damage test to Greg with foh and it got 700k. You can get it higher definitely if you have your team debuffing the boss but just thunderous retort+synthos gets it high enough to the point I'm happy with it cause of it's ease of use. For Aztecross being a titan main he doesn't even know the true combo for foh. Cast in air, jump, light, heavy and repeat the last 3 steps as fast as you can until you're super is done. Flying all the way up is wasting time and damage.
The super meta remains relatively the same. Some roaming supers are better. But gathering storm and blade barrage are still the best damage supers in the game. Star eaters 3 shot only beats blade barrage with 3 kinetic surges. For the most part you’ll run surges matching your heavy not just so your super can barely beat out blade barrage.
@@simplyrohith2163 T-crash is one and done super, it's true, but you have to physically hit the boss with it. Depending on the boss position and your team placement it's not always possible to use T-crash (Oryx) or sometimes will take longer to do it and run back to the well and continue dmg with your weapons (like the new Dungeon final boss) than the full duration of Chaos Reach. It makes it now so overall across all bosses, Arclock now will do more dmg in the same scenario than a Titan and is more consistent.
Part of the problem with the Spectral Blades test(and even in the Arc Staff tests) wasn't that you were going past him, part of the problem was that you kept pushing him back, causing him to teleport
Use nova warp next the boss on his Sides to avoid being stomped away. The maximum charge comes faster as well. You hold it too long before releasing it. You could be getting way more damage

Goddamn it Bungie. I was SO excited for the Spectral Blades buff, and it’s still bar none the worst super in the game. Even if they had given it a 100% increase in damage, it would still only be HALF as good as Silkstrike and Arc Staff. This super needs a full-on rework.
When the solar ad clear super does substantially better damage than the giant death laser, you know that Chaos Reach needs yet another buff. After the last damage test you did, I knew that 25% buff still wasn’t going to be enough. Even an artifact mod can’t fix this supers pitiful output. Lol, leave it to Bungie to accidentally nerf a bunch our Warlock supers when they were supposed to be buffed.
The 749k Aztecross broke with chaos reach and geos should be the normal damage output for PVE. It's meant to be a powerhouse super with a high risk-reward playstyle. There's no reason to bother wasting 85 percent of a damage phase in this super when I can out-dps myself with weapons or a one-and-done super like Needlestorm/swarmers. It's made even worse in activities when stuff is constantly moving around, you won't even reach half of these numbers. The state of Stormcaller as a whole is pitiful (outside of Arc Souls my beloved)
This is all awesome info and I appreciate it, but I really wish you would have done base super damage as well here so we could know what would work best during normal DPS phases with other builds
Wish you tested Behemoth using Howl of the Storm, since there was a 20% light attack buff theres a chance it recieved the damage increase which would have made it even more of a monster than it is
I saw something on reddit about jolt being bugged against single targets. I realised this also could be hurting chaos reach when supering a single boss with no ads around.
Behemoth has always been that good. It gets EVEN BETTER if you drop a couple Anarchy shots on the boss beforehand so nearby crystals automatically shatter
Just a heads up in the edit the second golden gun shows celestial being used when it’s star eater that’s actually being used. Great vid regardless keep it up Aztec!
What i have learned from this video is Nova Bomb really needs an exotic that will help boost its damage like the other classes have for their supers. Its just pathetic how little damage that instant damage super is compared to the other classes instant damage supers.
the blight ranger nerf is probably a bug because blight ranger and raiju’s both had reduced energy consumption on blocking. this probably caused a bug that removed the feature from ALL exotics with the perk instead of just raijus
You can throw a grenade to weaken them so they take way more damage before popping it and it does over 350k. Nova bomb doing 100k less than a falling star thundercrash (which imo is the standard acceptable range) with no exotic helping it, at range, and is over fast giving plenty of time for heavy weapon dps still seems pretty good to me. Base numbers aren’t the full story
I think because of Needlestorm being a good one off people are super down on nova, but void having the ability to proc your own debuff for weapon and super dmg for solo activities is nice too where Strand, imo, is gonna be better in team settings
I would argue that like... all void supers need at least a +100% buff. Spectral, moebius quiver, nova bomb, sentinel. If you brought ANY to a dps phase, you'd get kicked. Void may have a really strong netral game, but man, the supers be lackin'.
Great testing again BUT: In fact, there has to be someone at Bungie GETTING PAID for ACTUALLY TESTING stuff this way. This video shows again… they don’t
Anyone who wants to do their own damage testing, load up the second mission of the witch queen campaign. Get to the end after the gate opens and there is a checkpoint there. Free banners. You also get lots of adds and 3 bosses (barrier knights). They have low health so you’ll have to extrapolate that data but the barrier knights are true bosses and the checkpoint never goes away.
Nova Bomb is fine, in a damage phase you just toss it and get back to doing damage w your heavy. Sure something like Dawnblade w DC does more total damage but it also takes much longer to pump out
I'm of the opinion all one and done supers should do at least 600k total damage. All roaming should be 800k total damage. Both of course on single targets

I really wish Bungie would give damage/build testers a room in the HELM to test damage and stuff like that, I would seriously love that too actually, just a room with a bunch of target dummies and another large object as a boss, and maybe numbers on a screen nearby that lets you know how much damage you just did to the boss target or stuff like that :)
That would be incredible
We had something like this during Season of Opulence, there was a space you could load into that you could spawn enemies on a podium that could be killed. Granted there were no bosses.
You'll get an aquarium and you'll like it
Or just give us the room back on the Leviathan that had the damage dummies on it

Spectral suffers the same issue lament does. On client side, you’re pushing the enemy away from you, but on server side, they are standing still. What happens is you move forward with the client sided enemy and the game updates their position, making them teleport behind you where they were originally standing.
wow, if only bungie could've implemented dedicated servers anywhere in the nine years the game has been a thing!
Or you can just use a one and done super a support weapon and a fusion and still do more damage than a roaming super. Plus too many bosses now that it’s just stupid to try and use roaming supers against.

@NrdDy I feel like thats an even worse take. Fact of the matter is, the disparity from the top and the bottom- that gap is way too wide.
True that not all supers should be identical in damage but when you have the top super doing about 5x more that's an insane diffence especially if your soloing hard content and why certain builds end up being the ones most use. I have no issues with different damage ammounts between them but the lowest damage in this test should range from a minimum of 400k to the almost 1.1m. I think vortex nova bomb should do damage similar to the arc hunter super.
I mean technically it should do more since the arc super stick in and the boss can't walk out of the aoe. But who knows why they are scared to make it good lol
I mean you have a super boosting exotic on the hunter with the gathering storm, having a base super (on a sunclass that can debuff the target in 2 ways before attacking with vortex) compete with that would be crazy.
Didnt they re-add the seasonal perk that increases arc super damage while critically wounded ? Why not grab mountaintop and try it out again. See if its as good as the first time we had it ?
The new hunter exotic is the grand overture of glaive gloves. Being able to fire six winterbite blasts in a row is really strong
Heads up about this! If winterbite is overflowed, it loses it's melee damage bonus.
winterbite as a weapon also sucks ass unless the boss literally stands still like templar its near impossible to hit any boss that moves and to make things worse the exotic not only is worse than synthos but it also makes winterbite lose melee damage also even if you hit all projectiles the damage is lower than a rocket

The problem about Spectral Blades in PvE is not just the low damage. It’s also the extra duration drain when you’re not invisible.
The supers lasts 14s (assuming you don’t attack anything) when you’re not invisible.
This means that it can’t even ad clear.
Bungie needs to buff the attack damage through the roof and make it fit the assassin role better.
The super should be a boss killer/Champion slayer.
A change I had in mind would be like this:
-Light attacks mark the enemy.
That look of disappointment at 14:12 is exactly how it feels being a hunter and even THINKING about spectral blades
For warlock stasis, you did dmg wrong. You cancel the second shot and immediately shatter.

@@brusselseastside3546 If you press shatter immediately following the first blast of ice, you save a substantial amount of super energy because the second shot of ice never fires. Allowing you to gain more total damage per super.

Tbh that should've been a base part of the warlock's kit.
Half of their kit is all about being improved by being amplified, and half of it didn't touch subclass verbs at all until this patch.
we've had thunderous retort twice before and they didn't do it then so why would they do it now
Yeah it definitely is.
