My father Raymond was born in 1913 and lived on Ocean Parkway until he married my mother Helen.i was born in 1949 we lived at 1640 Ocean ave then moved to 2330 Ocean ave. I think Grandma Etta still lived on the parkway in the 1940's. He told me about the Spitz dog he had...they lived in a house.
I grew up on Ocean Parkway in the 1950s and 60s. We lived just three blocks away from Prospect Park at 40 Ocean Parkway. Robert Moses wrecked the neighborhood when he tore down part of the parkway and turned it into a soulless expresway.
I agree with "bigbadlee1" about the traffic on the parkway, I especially like to point out the gentleman riding a bicycle on the main drag of Ocean Parkway. I lived on E 5th St (one block from Ocean Pkway) back in the 1960s. Even then you could not ride a bike there.
