The easiest way to find out if the EarPods are fake or not ist to try to connect them to your mac. The Original automatically switch to the device you‘re using.

The fake ones are just as good the only thing they don’t do is read texts out or handle calls too good but the music quality I could tell the difference with the real ones

Main difference is the sound. The sound is super crisp on the real ones when changing anc or transparency etc. but the fakes normally sound loud and muffled

How do the fake ones compare to the flashlight test? Placing the light inside and looking at the top of the case reveals hardware silhouettes. If fake it is empty - curious how these look

Fun fact apple designs their boxes to intentionally slowly slide open when you pick them up. Usually the very first telltale of a fake is if the box is difficult to open or falls out with little to no resistance
