I just watched Captain Sonny and Captain Billy White from Captain White's Seafood talking about the importance of continuing the seafood market on the wharf in our Nation's Capital. I can tell everyone that if the wharf hadn't been there year's ago and even now hundreds of families would suffer possibly thousands. From the Chesapeake Bay Bridge - Tunnel heading North thousands of families have relied on the income they earned working on the Wharf. I know due to the fact I worked there for about seven year's. The owners would normally supply their employees transportation to and from the Wharf, also lodging and food is included. The Eastern Shore of Virginia can be a tuff place to raise a family but thank God for the Wharf hundreds of families survived by either working full-time or weekends on the Wharf. The pay was always good and as a 15 year old kid, namely me learning the value of good work ethics along with life's lessons it certainly taught me more about business than collage could ever do. I certainly hope that the Wharf will continue to be a big part of Washington DC. Hundreds of families depend on the income from the Eastern Shore of Virginia and other areas.
