I first tried loading a dreamsnap picture with a custom made rug, but I got a pop-up that said those items weren't allowed. I didn't try it with custom clothes, though.

Custom made items are not allowed to be near DreamSnap photos. I unfortunately got the error when trying to load into my game so I still haven’t been able to access the new content 😭
