Well you are going international now, that's great. Wonderful place to look at with all the trees and the history of the place. Hopefully he can be a springboard for avocado diversity in the area. Jan Boyce does seem to be getting more popular.
Portugal! Great tour A.J. Your friend has an amazing property and has done so much work to make it not just productive, which it is, but beautiful. Thanks!
Ola Aj meu irmão! Muito obrigado pelo video. It came out really nice. Thanks to you and your wife for the visit, we had a wonderful time. Looking forward to do it again soon. Um grande abraço!
Hi guys, loved the video! Eu também sou desta parte de Portugal (Alto Minho) e adoraria poder enxertar algumas dessas variedades. Do you think I could get some scions Joe?
Great video and what a property! I can't believe how many varieties of avocados he has growing in North Portugal. I have just moved to a new homestead in South Spain (documenting on my YT channel) and we have established Hass avocado trees. It would be great to graft some new varieties because we are very limited in Spain. I am also always on the look out for mulberry, fig, citrus... cuttings to expand - you can never have too many!
Great content. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. I grew avocado trees in my back yard from seed and I need to graft a scion of a dwaft avocado or any one of the smaller side tree variety. Do you have a scion that I can buy? I live in Sacramento. Thanks
What a beautiful and bountifull garden. It's really impressive and very inspiring. I was curious about the apple tree that seemed to have lots of branches growing from the bottom rather than 1 long trunc.
So nice. You guys from the US are really blessend with avocado varieties. Im looking for 2 years now for frost resistent varieties like fantastic/lila/poncho but couldnt finde one. Im from Germany and try to grow Avocados with Winter protection. So if any of you know where to get scions or trees or if you could send me one, please let me know. Would love to grow them here. Many Regards
I live very close to him!!! I also live in Minho and I have around 300 fruit trees. The big lemons are Cidrao, very common in Portugal to make cakes. Strange that he does not have pawpaw, white zapote, sapodilha, bananas , mangoes and cherimoya ( anonas). I have them in Vila Verde, Minho
That big lemon looks like ponderosa lemon (which is a citron hybrid) if i had to guess, not citron which is a generic term for a number of citron and citron hybrids (the original 'citron' is disputed)
Ok so this is new to me and just to confirm, do rootstocks change fruit flavor? i have a recent potted mango from a nursery on Turpentine rootstock. No fruit yet but i am wondering now if the Mallika mango graft would perhaps produce a tweaked fruit flavor. I am not worried, just wondering how rootstocks might affect the fruit. Unless of course it has to do with a given rootstock's enhanced ability to pull nutrients from the ground for the graft. Love your content..
Thanks! Great question. The relationship between rootstock and scion is more complex than people think. It might be worth doing a video about this topic.
TREES I HAVE IN MY BACKYARD IN LOS ANGELES - Bacon Avocado, Rio Red Grapefruit, Meyer Lemon, Navel Orange, Panamint Nectarine, and Satsuma Plum. Not counting my vegetable garden.
That man is blessed with so many fruit trees
Living the dream! What a beautiful dream.

Tell him we definitely enjoyed the videos!
We will

Wow how nice beautiful
Nice
I going to create my land as the same this video. I am fruits lover
My all time ambition...when i settled back in rural settings....
❤❤❤
Fantastic collection. Where'd he get those scions?
Can I get in touch with your friend in Portugal? I want to buy some cuttings branches to graft my planted tree from seeds. Appreciated

Interesting. I'll look into the ponderosa lemon. Thanks
Small tight knit community. Greg must be Greg Alder!

Good show
What’s his goal with the avocados? Build a shady slightly wild canopy or harvest fruit with poles and ladders?
Good question. I'll ask him next time.
Graft man rather than cut the fuerte down wouldn't it be better for Joe to graft other varieties onto it since he seems to have great grafting skills?
Yes i believe so. That's a good idea.
I've never heard of some of these avocados
Some are local varieties.
@AJTheGraftMan I'm watching you from Barbados. We don't have that many varieties here, mainly Wilson, Lula, Simmonds, Choquette & maybe a few others
Can i purchase a nimloh rootstock
Since You are in Portugal, can you share some of that history and tell me why Spain did not invade Portugal, Portugal land used to be Spain land?
Lol I don't know. Maybe watch a history channel?
They tried many times but weren't able to conquer Portugal. Both countries came to get along well and left their mark on word history.
👍🍺

those giant lemons was bred in 🇮🇱 Israel
