Tangiers, Morocco

  • I felt somewhat apprehensive during our brisk stroll through the Medina in Tangiers. It was my first visit to an Arab country. And so, I wasn't sure what to expect. Furthermore, the tour guide, whom I sought, was unavailable at the time, so my sis and I had to settle with a substitute instead. In the end, my apprehension was totally unfounded. Moroccans were generally friendly toward tourists, regardless of nationality and religion. But watch out for roaming street vendors! They'd usually mob you and be very persistent in selling their goods to you. :))

    I’m John G-K ! I lived in Tangier 1939-1961.
You started this video outside the historic St.Andrews Church which is well worth a visit for its cultural blending, and the graves of some of the colourful personalities that once lived in this city. The Grand Zoco, now a garden square was once known as the Zoco Fuera = outside market, being outside the old City walls. In my time,a flourishing and bustling shanti market , selling vegetables, livestock, grains , handrafts etc. Next to it was the covered fish and butchers market. Glad that your guide gave you the option of eating location. Hope you enjoy the Medina too.

Merci Prototaloy d'avoir partager ce contenu. J'ai vu beaucoup de tableaux vivants durant cette jolie promenade a travers la rue d'Italie et autre a Tanger.

Wanted to go to Morocco for some time now. Heading to Gibraltar this year so will spend the day there I think. I'm suprised to see women in this video working. When I went to Egypt, no women work. I thought it was part of the arab culture for the women not to work. Clearly I am wrong. This tour guide seems nice, where did you find him may I ask?

Hi shambles, if you are planning on visiting Tunisia the best way is to book a ferry from algeciras which is about 30 minutes bus from Gibraltar the ferry will cost you about 40 euros return, or you can book a day trip for 100. You should visit it's a nice place.

Apart from his native Arabic tongue, he also speaks fluent Spanish, French, English & perhaps some other languages. He's also an expert on the historical background of all sites that he's taken us to see. I like the guy & will never forget him. I can't recall his name, though. :D

The city is Tangier, NOT Tangiers.

Perfect example for a 'faux guides. '. 20 Euro per person for a local restaurant? You can eat in Art ee Gourmet (the 'fancy' one) for this price. Feel sorry for the poor tourists. But hey, it's an authentic Tangier experience!

Richard Upton I would recommend a view in the map. You will see that Tangier is the capitol of Morocco. It has nothing to do with Tunisia
