I'm redoing my A/C components this weekend. The Evaporator, dryer, condenser and orifice tube. My F-250 is a 2002 version and A/C hasn't worked properly in about 6 years and most if not all are original parts. So here goes. Your "tube" tutorial was worth watching. Thanks!!
Thanks Patrick, I appreciate it. I have a Playlist of this trucks AC, most of the video's aren't mine but have good information that I used to do mine. Mine works well after I replaced everything, hoses, evaporator, compressor, switches etc. I did have problems putting R134A in because my Low Pressure Coupler on the end of the hose was bad and it took me awhile to figure out it was the coupler not the system. Before you start go watch and skip through the videos on the playlist here; th-cam.com/video/-wUX9x2e-zI/w-d-xo.html&pp=gAQBiAQB Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Nonyea
Day 2 on the A/C new component swap. Things going well but tedious. One item that concerns me. The mounting bracket for the EGR (I think?) has the metal bracket that gets screwed to the top half of the evaporator cover. It's got 3 raised towers to accept the 3 screws. The back screw (shaped like a triangle) partially cracked the screw tower. I just screwed the other 2 enough so it holds. Here, you have to lower each screw down going across the pattern. They are aggressive thread plastic threads, screws have a nut on top and wood screw base. The dryer is going in today. Hoses after that.
Keep up the good work. If you join the 7.3L Powerstroke Nation on FaceBook here; facebook.com/groups/1861700010593406/ You can share pictures and short videos for all to see and give you advice on. Would love to see your progress. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya
A very relevant question! My AC wasn't working as good as it used to even after I put some R134A in it. The pressures were way off, so I knew I had a plug somewhere in the system. I knew that the Orifice Tube had a screen on it so that was the logical place to look. Once I saw all the crap on it I knew the 20 year old compressor was toast. So I just replaced everything, hoses, compressor, evaporator, condenser etc. If you're pressures show you have a blockage, Low Low Pressure and a High High Pressure this is the 1st place to look. If this is not the case then you probably have a plugged Condenser just behind the grill. Flushing the Condenser won't help, just replace it. If the system is 20years old and you fix it, your running on borrowed time, just rebuild it. I did mine for around $600.00. You can rent, borrow the tools to keep costs down. If the pressure are close, then try cleaning the Evaporator here; th-cam.com/video/TqFf7tP7Nfw/w-d-xo.html&pp=gAQBiAQB Hope that helps Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya
Hey, looking for a little help please if possible: Custom built hot rod, ran out of gas, put more in and it fired up for a few secs then died. Now no fuel is coming out of the gas tank. ?? Replaced mechanical pump 2 yrs ago. Just replaced fuel filter today. Fuel filter is see through and I can see there is no gas running through it at all. Don't know what to do, tried priming by pouring gas directly into carb to fire it up hoping the pump would pull gas through, but nothing. Any thoughts??
Well as a custom, if there's not fuel getting to the engine and you'ved changed the filters, then pull the fuel pump bolts. Leave the lines on if possible and operate the pump by hand. If it's pumping fuel then probably the pump cam behind the timing cover or wherever it is probably fell off. I the pump isn't pumping when the lines hooked up and the lever is moving then the mechanical pump has gone bad and needs to be replaces. Hope that helps. Post a video of your custom and the issue on your channel and drop me a link and I'll go look at it. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya

These trucks don't have Expansion Valves. They do have Orifice Tubes inside the metal tube that attaches to the Evaporator. Go to time index 2:05 in the video to see where it's at in the tube and how to get it out. Let me know if you have any more questions I can help you with. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya
Hi Yaf, My compressor went bad, so while I decided to rebuild the whole system, including the Orifice Tube. However one of the symptoms of a clogged Orifice Tube is High High Side and Low Low side pressures with little cooling. What is your symptoms?
@mixedbread1 I had that same issue and fixed it by cleaning the Evaporator just left of the Passenger Valve Cover. Here's a video on how to do that; th-cam.com/video/TqFf7tP7Nfw/w-d-xo.html Hope that helps, Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya
Hey man great video . I have a 2004 6.0 and my AC when I turn on my truck is perfect then I start driving and under a little load you feel the AC just shut off as in the compressor & only way to get it to come back on is to litteraly floor it so the truck downshifts hard and you hear the compressor click back on it’s been recharged and checked for leaks and nothing . Could this be a blockage in the lines as in maybe the orifice tube is clogged or any suggestions
Dont be offended, but you're sure the conmpressor is clicking off and not a vacuum issue causing airflow to be redirected to defrost? Just sounds like a vacuum issue with the throttle load issue.
To legally do it, take it to a AC Automotive Repair center. To do it illegally, put a towel around the Accumulator (Dryer), port and push a screw driver into the vent and let it out. The towel is to soak up all the fluid.

Do you have to let out the refrigernt first or pressure?
Yes you have to drain the system to change it or inspect it. If you purchase the R134A on eBay or Amazon it's a lot cheaper than buying it in town.
