Reminds me of the old forts we have here in Fareham and Gosport. Fort Fareham and Fort Brockhurst were the only two we could access. Best days of my life running round exploring old places. We had a place called knowle Hospital a bit down the road, and we used to say we were staying at eachothers houses but instead ride our bikes to the abanadoned hospital. It was so creepy and always felt like i was being watched. I love it. Great video gents.
@@MrSpoonage Many thanks Mr Spoonage. We used to explore abandoned houses when we were kids, long before the property boom. They stayed abandoned for years and we referred to them as ‘haunted houses’. Great times. We’re just bigger kids now doing the same thing 😂 You should look them up again and do a video. Thank you for your input and kind words 👍
UK is the most amazing WW1 & WW2 Military History. Thanks for Posting. Cheers from Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. We have a lot of underground here, but it is mostly St Peter Sandstone, a little like the Chock caves of UK.
@@richardturnnidge yes the fort and tunnels were built in Napoleonic times, but added to in the following wars. Thankfully never used for their original purpose. Yes some of the brickwork is superb.
As a kid I explored a lot of these tunnels, I’ve always known it as Smokey. It’s supposedly very haunted, I myself with friends have experienced some paranormal activity here… shadow people.. not sure if I completely believe in it myself. Great vid, good to see my local town getting some nice rep lol
@@SantosColon-jd9jg it was used as protection for the fort above it. The caponiere at the end meant that soldiers could fire down along the moat giving full protection against any invaders who made it that far.
Two questions spring to mind with this place.... Firstly, WHAT do those illiterate souls with spray cans actually get out of what they do? Secondly, WHY isn't this place properly maintained and looked after? I'm sure it would be a very popular place to visit with proper guided tours etc. History abandoned.
1, i don’t know? 2, i totally agree. The fort nearby is maintained by a voluntary group. It seems quite a job. The complex is huge. Maybe there’s not the staff/time/money?
It's an old fort complex. Built in Napoleonic times and added to in successive wars. I agree it's a real shame it's just left. The Drop redoubt is looked after and tours are held most months, but not in these tunnels

@@UrbexTroll thank you for your kind comments and for watching. We do have some excellent remains here
This is much older than WW1. It is Napoleonic era, so over 200 years old. Magnificent brickwork skills for the time.

Those holes in that room were most likely for ventilation to prevent the ammunition (powder) from getting damp.
E' veramente infinito 🇮🇹 sembra il forte Fenestrelle Piemonte Italiaaaaaaa!!
