  • #4 on my all time favourite artist list; behind Dionne, Melissa and Abba! Donna Summer's music has been in my radius since 1976's 'Love to love you baby'. Her Casablanca albums and singles then the Geffen ones filled an important decade of my young life. Disco was and perhaps is my favourite genre and Donna Summer is synonymous with it. Her Producer Giorgio Moroder pioneered the pulsating beats and high energy sound that would become a mainstay not only of disco, but future dance music forms in the subsequent decades. Donna's outrageously indulgent seemingly endless mix of the aforementioned breakthrough hit with its orgasmic utterances, and the similarly sensually loaded 'I feel love' made the singer the poster girl for the hedonism of disco. Back to back #1 albums - and double disc albums too, along with hit after hit - Donna Summer was seemingly unstoppable. Label changes and disputes as well as the inevitable backlash against disco, meant that the singer had to reinvent herself and she did. Several times. Controversy dogged her career and life in the mid 80's, but I never went 'cold love' on Donna Summer, and this track from her Stock Aitken & Waterman opus 'Another Place & Time' in 1989 revived her glorious career. 'Whatever your heart desires' was the B side to 'This time I know its for real', the hit single from the LP. I love them both, but as this one is the lesser known, I've chosen it to create an extended clip for. Using footage from various Donna Summer music videos; including the 1987 hits 'Dinner with Gershwin' and 'All Systems Go', and various ones from this 1989 release. I own none of the rights to any of the vision or audio featured here, but do possess a great love and respect for the Queen of Disco - Donna Summer. Gone, but never forgotten.
