Boston is built on landfill, look at a map of Boston 100 years ago. Of course, it's going to settle over time.

The entire waterfront of Boston is made land. How much weight can it sustain?

Apparently if it's too much it might tip over like Guam.
      - Democrats, probably.
Actually Hank Johnson actually thought this .

Agreed. The Boston harbor has been filled in so many times. When I was 10 years old, I remember watching the WHDH channel 5 studio near BC High School (now WCVB) being built near the ocean. They had to piledrive telephone type poles into the ground every 10 feet square or so to reach bedrock. Then they pored in the cement slab foundation for the building before they could build the structure.

We are suppose to worry about expensive ocean front property and the people that can afford to live there? They can afford to move if it’s that much of a concern, instead of crying about glaciers. The globe goes through freezing and melting cycles over thousands of years. Boston is one of the oldest cities, infrastructure and codes were a little different. Everything will eventually degrade over time ocean erosion or not. Isn’t New York built on literal garbage? Isn’t the south half of Florida trucked in sand dumped in wetlands to build it up? California with its fault lines earthquakes droughts they say that is slipping into the ocean. Yet all these mega mansions and the super rich choose to live in these areas. The same that cry about climate change. The climates going to do what it does regardless of how much money you throw at it.

We’re supposed to believe that the city is sinking yet developers keep building on the water front? 😂 Ever wonder how much money is in the climate change sector/industry? 😂😂

They keep adding more and more earth to the seaport. That water gets displaced.

And they pay theses people a salary. So why do all these geniuses keep building and building along the water then? The seaport has been an on going project for 30 years. Yet they keep building. Please.

The reason why they keep building? $$$$$. That’s the reason.
The larger problem, and it’s a global one, is that most major cities are built at, or near, sea level, as ocean-going trade is still the least expensive method of moving goods from one location to another.
Subsidence is just another problem that further complicates the separate problem of rising sea levels. Unfortunately, that’s only going to get dramatically worse over the next four years, as nothing will be done about climate change in Washington.
Even as it is now, only a little bit has been done, not nearly enough to really deal with the problem of a warming planet.
