  • The Royal Australian Air Force has proudly shown off its Boeing EA-18G Growler electronic attack aircraft during Exercise Red Flag in Nevada.
Inspired by some of the features of the F/A-18F Super Hornet and the US Marine Corps' Prowler aircraft, the Boeing EA-18G Growler's primary role is to jam enemy radar systems.
The aircraft is armed with an AGM-88 missile which can be used to knock out radar systems on the ground. It also has an ALQ-99 pod which can be used to attack a range of different targets.
Flight Lieutenant Jacob Murphy explains the role of the Boeing EA-18G Growler.

Gotta love the Growler. So much classified technology in it for being a 4th gen aircraft. Expensive, but really worth it. Shame more NATO nations don't have them.

That's why the RAAF is making inroads of being one of the few Air Force with a robust EW expertise as a force multiplier in future conflicts.

I think other countries don't have money or necessary for a separate electronic attack aircraft. Only Australia, Japan and US need this to counter China. Europe can stop anything from Russia

Can this technology be installed in smaller unmanned submarines and use them like drone swarms to sneak up on navy ships or air defense systems near shorelines catching them by surprise without putting aircrafts in risk of being shot down.

    • @skittlyscooter1779

not perse on submarines, due to air and water acting differently with certain frequencies, also, these jamming pods are meant to be used as a stand-off weapon being out of enemy missle ranges, and being well protected by friendly fighter, plus they usually carry A/A missles aswel themselves, and using drones wont be as effective, because if enemies can somehow take over the drone with this highly classified material, then it can cause massive troubles for friendly forces. so maybe to an extent, but I know as much as you as most of this stuff in classified.
