    I just used some scrap wood to make a “tee” of sorts that sits down in the bottom of my trash can. Basically it’s a 1x8 that stands vertical and I just use it to “beat the devil out of it”. Works perfect and didn’t really cost me a dime.

    The whole time I was watching this I was thinking, "I already have this & know how to use it, what I really wish he'd talk about is the Bob Ross Conditioner & how to use that. I'm going to make a comment asking him to do a video on it as soon as this one's over." And then it was like you were reading my mind the whole time :)

      On his last video I asked him to do one for the conditioner because I have never seen any video on how to use it. He responded to my comment and said he would do one.
      Finally it looks like we will get one on how to use it.

    I have been doing air brush for a long time and just started the wet on wet technique. My question is:: once you place the liquid white
    what do you need to do if you only get thru half your painting?? or does the entire painting need to be done in ONE SITTING.
    Thank you in advance for your help.
    Lanny

    • @WildCreates
      @WildCreates  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I get this question a lot and should do a video on it. Short answer is find a happy and complete stopping point. For example: finish the entire mountain and not just half of it ( this will help when you come back ). Then check with your brush & and a little color if the canvas is still slick. IF its not, add a little liquid medium in the section you will be painting.
      Hope that helps.

    Hey Wild, I am new to oil painting. Is it that you use the bucket with the insert while painting, then to thoroughly clean the brush, you dip the brush in thinner and use the waste basket with rack to beat the brush clean? Thank you for all the great tutorials ❤️

    • @WildCreates
      @WildCreates  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Glad to help... You like this still. You will want 2 cleaning stations:
      1) A bucket with a cleaning screen that has thinner in it. This will get off all big junks of paint. You can see a video on it here: th-cam.com/video/Em3yaAdtWss/w-d-xo.html
      2) A beater rack and waste bin. This allows you to clean off the extra thinner that might be on the brush. Which this video is about.
      I hope that helps.

    Hi Wild...I keep seeing people online saying that using the Bob Ross method of "beating the devil" out of your brush is dangerous due to the particulates that are generated in the air. I see that this is an older video. Have you continued to use your beater rack? I'm just getting started with oil painting and am trying to decide what method I should use to clean my brushes.

    • @WildCreates
      @WildCreates  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Glad to help. Short answer is YES I still use it, BUT I use it in a much safer fashion.
      I always paint in a well ventilated room, I only pull the brush gently across the rack ( no beating the devil out ), and I cover my trash can with a thick towel when I am not using it ( to prevent vapors coming up )
      I hope that helps you out

      Thinner wont combust but linseed oil can ( in the extreme right conditions ).When all done for the day, I personally use an empty paint can filled with a little water to rinse the towels ( to dilute them ) Then let them dry and throw them away.

    Hi Wild, I've been watching your videos since I wanted to get into oil painting and specifically Bob Ross' style. I've bought that beater rack and plan to put it on the bottom of a trash can or carboard box with a trash bag in in like you show. But my concern is: we know that thinner is one of those dangerous materials that can spontaneously combust. Is there any danger of that in a plastic bag? Or are those droplets too small to pose any danger?

    • @WildCreates
      @WildCreates  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I get this question a lot. You concerns are valid but it takes a lot or the right conditions for it to happen. If you are smart; use it correctly, clean up correctly, and store it correctly ( all steps are easy BTW). You will have no issue at all.
      Hope that helps.

    • @Tibokio
      @Tibokio 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@WildCreates Thank you for the response! That puts my mind at ease, well at least a bit haha. What would you recommend me doing with the trash bag after a painting session? I was thinking about maybe spraying water in there as well, but I'm not sure if that would do anything. The issue is that paint thinner as Bob Ross uses it is not widely available in my country so I've had it imported, but that also means there aren't any people I know that use it or know how to store it safely. I read that it is similar to terpentine, but more flammable if I'm not mistaken. I have paint cans and glass jars to store the paint thinner, so that should be okay. But what about the trash bag you used for brush beating, what do you for example do with it after painting? And do you store your jars with paint thinner indoors or in the garage?
      Thanks in advance!

    • @WildCreates
      @WildCreates  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To be honest - I keep it very simple.
      I just wipe my can/beater rack clean with paper towels when I am done and let it air dry outside. I let my paper towel and trash bag dry out then throw them away.
      I store all my thinners in my garage in a nice safe and cool spot

    • @Tibokio
      @Tibokio 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@WildCreates Thanks! Sounds simple but also rational haha. I'll let them dry out outside, and then I'll store the thinner and trash in the garage which is underground for me, so luckily it'll always be in a cool spot.

    Okay soo here's the deal: That is a: cabinet organizer. A shelf. A spice rack raiser upper. Whatever you wish to call it. It's flimsy wire covered in a rubber coating. BobRoss official site tries to sell these for 8$ + shipping which I don't understand ( I wish I could upload pics of mine) because this same thing is sold at the Dollar Store for: well.. lol.. one dollar.

    • @WildCreates
      @WildCreates  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you would find my other video super interesting then ( th-cam.com/video/zvuWmI-Ribg/w-d-xo.html )
      Even though the BR beater rack can be considered a glorified spice rack, its still a great option for painters that may not have a dollar store in their area. Since spice racks are generally bigger/wider than the BR ones. The BR rack is more for the person that doesn't wanna deal with finding a bigger/wider trash can or have to make alterations to their spice rack to make it fit.

    You can buy $1 cup rack at the Dollar store. It’s the same thing.
