OPM is influenced by a mixture of Western Pop, Jazz, Blues, Folk, Ballad, Country, Rock, etc even artists way of writing and style of singing.. The best way to say is that they want to preserve the full band experience of OPM and the ballad love songs that we are used to hearing in OPM..
Actually Mori and others cant sing Jona's song. Because, though they may produce highnotes needed, but the amount of emotion.. If you ralize, everytome Jona's song is covered, they seems to always flop
Jona doesn't do true whistle tones; hers is a super head voice. Mahirap ang whistle tone lalo n kung meron harmony and vibrato. Super head voice is falsetto as falsetto can be.... pero straight tone lang siya... Watch her duet with Mori sa kantang Emotions ni Mariah Carey to hear the difference... Peace po! ❤

Sa Pilipinas, si Mori, Elaine and Lani lang ang nakaka-navigate ng tune within a whistle tone.... All the rest cannot do riffs, runs and vibratos within their whistle tones. Kahit nga sa mga black R&B artists, bilib sila sa mga meron "true" whistle tone registers eh.
