    These slow motion technique videos are SO helpful! When it comes to crafting, it's so much easier for me to see it along with reading the instructions on the pattern. Thank you for all your assistance!

    Wow! I wish this video had been available years ago when I first started using DPNs. It would have saved me a lot of heart ache! Thanks for sharing this.

    Thank you this is do useful. I have replayed 3.20 a million times and the idea of casting on to the individual needles is something I will have to try as I just make ladders and a mess.

    Love your hand motion for the cast on! I’m a continental knitter and haven’t mastered the “flicking” motion, so I stick with continental.
    Great video, especially for small projects. Thanks. ❤️

    Thank you for your videos. Without you, I would have never become a successful knitter. I have no fear knitting anything now, knowing that VeryPink surely has a video for any stitch, cast-on/off that I could ever need.
    I have been watching Kristy Glass Knits channel, her interviews with designers, dyers, LYS owners, etc and SO many of them attribute their knitting skills to YOU and your videos!! You should be very proud of your knitting legacy.

    Video makes it look so simple, yet I struggle with dpn’s! I realize the first round is probably the worse, with nothing to hang on to, I just can’t seem to get beyond it! I’ll keep trying! 😊

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, keep trying! The first round is definitely the most difficult, it gets easier and easier as you keep going.

    I know you recently reviewed the Ginger needles but what DPN's do you love most of all, for socks?

  • @laurenmiller3886
    @laurenmiller3886 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video ( as usual)! Question: it seems to me that both circular and DPN pretty much do the same thing. Am I wrong? Also, what are the advantages and disadvantages of choosing DPNs over circulars? Thanks!

    • @hunterporter5527
      @hunterporter5527 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You are right in that circular needles and DPNs are both used to knit in the round. However, DPNs are used when knitting a smaller tube. For example, when knitting a sock, it is easier to use DPNs than 9in. circulars.

  • @Stephlovesnapping
    @Stephlovesnapping 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great Tutorial! One question though... how do I mark the beginning? Usually when joining in the round (with 16” circs or magic loop) I use a stitch marker. Can I still do that?

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a good question...you can't use a normal ring stitch marker at the end of a DPN because it will just slide off, but you can use a clippie marker, or a safety pin to mark the beginning of the round.

      I’m looking for sharper points. The ginger needles you used in this video look pretty “pointy “ to me. On your recommendation I’ve ordered Paintbox wool mix chunky to knit your bulky sleep socks pattern.

    Can you do a slow motion on the heel using the DPN?

  • @amoore233
    @amoore233 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I had been taught to keep my empty (and filling) needle above the needle I'd just completed. You keep yours below. Does it make a difference?

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No - just a personal preference, won't make a difference in the work.

  • @barbaraward9601
    @barbaraward9601 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    When using dpns for decreases in the round, how do you mark which needle is the start, after you have completed the first time around? If I get interrupted I can’t tell which needle is the beginning one and where the next decrease needs to take place.

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can tell in a couple of ways...the tail end of your yarn (from the cast-on) marks the spot between the two needles that is the beginning of your round. You can also use a clippie marker or safety pin to mark on the fabric the spot between the two needles that is the beginning of the round.

    When I was new at dpns I had trouble keeping the stitches too loose so bad that sometimes I would drop a dpn. Any advice for newbies with this problem?

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes - you can make a conscious effort to tighten up your stitches a bit (it will take some practice), and/or use bamboo DPNs, which have a little more grip.

  • @barbaracash808

    does it matter if you throw the yarn clockwise or counterclockwise to form the stitch on the needle when you cast on

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes - it does make a difference, but it can be done either way. Wrapping the yarn the opposite direction is usually Combination Knitting...you can learn more by searching my channel and watching the video.
